Goliath?

Thieves are a paladin's worst nightmare. They have no way (in-combat) to keep the thief around, and no way (barring equipment) to make it so they can't hide.

Hehe, yeah... I know.

Paladins have no way to keep any class in combat.

Point being with thieves, that they can't get them out of hiding, and if they do come out of hiding, they can't keep them in battle or out of hiding. It should be VERY hard for a thief to die to a paladin. Assuming there was a point in the fight that the thief tried to escape.

Thieves and Paladins are mutually exclusive.

A Paladin might have difficulties catching a thief, but a thief will have an extreme difficulty catching a Paladin unprepared.

With that a skilled thief will rob a Paladin blind. But there are no skilled thieves. Only Slith Niche Killers (anyone remember old Slith ).

With that a smart paladin can kill a unaware Thief if he can surprise him.

Mounted charge is Charge!!!

The only reason paladins find it hard to kill thieves is because they can hide. Same with a ninja. Should a paladin catch a thief in a situation whereby they can't hide, a paladin will outmatch a thief in combat (in theory). The thief must rely on hit and run, and hope that a certain trap works in their favour to get the upper hand on a paladin. Generaly speaking it makes it an extremely long fight that usually lasts a round or two at a time until the thief hides to sleep or the paladin flees to put up spells and cure. This goes for many classes VS thief though.

Paladins really suffer against blademasters and warriors, specifically against magic resist and/or neutral and/or giant-sized (in the case of warriors).

Paladins.... when you see Goliath...

You sir, have issues.

That's one of my favorite Fresh Prince scenes... such a great show.

EDIT: And I agree, Goliath is always worth using.

Trip immunity comes with the mounted combat skill and works on any steed' date=' not just Goliath.[/quote']

That's not true. Mounted paladins on a store bought, or Goliath, can be tripped. And no, not by an air thrashing monk.

I was never able to be tripped when I was on Goliath.

Same here.

I was never able to be tripped when I was on Goliath.

You were able to be tripped, you just never were. Or maybe you were and never noticed. Actually, I'm positive you were on your pally.

Only when he wasn't mounted. I would frequently see 'Your feet aren't on the ground.' at the start of fights with people who had the trip skill.

BMG's can trip a Paladin, thats about the only thing I can think of.

I hate that ability. More because it hurts ridiculously than that it allows a mage class that can already kick the *** of just about any class that won't almost always be flying to LAG THEM.

No, I was wrong, I hate that it lags more than that it hurts ridiculously.

A mounted paladin is immune to a standard trip. For example, some thief using their trip ability against a mounted paladin - goliath or storebought mount - will see the "their feet aren't on the ground" message even if the paladin isn't flying.

English Lad hit the nail on the head.

And yeah, it's the lag that sucks, because you can actually parry/shieldblock/dodge/whatever the actual attack but still be lagged. But then again, such is the manner of a huge axe/polearm swiping at your legs (or your horses)

Sorry, yeah, I see. I was just talking about the trip command itself.

That's what you get for talking Dey.

BUAHAHAH YOU THINK BECAUSE YOU GOT IMM'D YOU ARE FREE AND CLEAR FROM MY CHILDISH BANTER! THINK AGAIN! BUAHAHAHAHAH!
