Is there a difference between a two-handed staff and just a staff? I was under the impression that a staff was always two-handed. There has to be a difference though, maybe I'm just missing something.
Q about staff
All staves are 2h - the only exception I believe is a druid staff.

... and healer.
And one found in Falen Dara.
and practice staff

Re-reading your post:
Staff - Weapon:
All 2h weapons. The only 2h weapon you don't need 2h for 100% prof in. Druid and healer staff are created by the classes.
Staff - Spells:
These aren't weapons and can be 'brandished' for whatever spell they contain. You will have to hold them (IIRC) to brandish them. You cannot wield them.

Yeah. I was talking about the weapon. Sorry, I should have made that a little more clear.
I had just noticed when I would id a staff I'd see either of these:
Weapon type is two-handed staff.
...... Weapon type is staff
Well, now I'm not so sure. I'm going through my eq list and the particular staff in question (a non-rare from mahn-tor's keep) and it says its a two-handed staff. But I could have swore I examined it earlier and it just said "staff" and not "two-handed staff"
Stranger still, I've worned a shield AND wielded the staff in question at the same time. (As a giant)
With a giant?
yeah. not tested it with a medium sized race yet.
i've done it w/ a werebeast ranger
Works with battlemages too, only when enlarged.
So is it size dependant.. is that a bug? Will you still parry + shield block + pugil?? ![]()
you parry and shield block, but you won't block with a weapon.
Do you pugil?
No, no pugil either I don't think. My attacks per round seemed to be lower.
Giants are able to wear a two-handed weapon and a shield, you just wont use weapon block or pugil.
