Level 51

Can mortals get to level 51? If so, does anything happen? Any benefits?

Hero Level. I believe it was said on the forums that the Moderators didn't see much use for them.

It's something that has lost its frequency over the last three or four years. The only still-living hero is Teralis, followed by the late Isabeau.

However, I still think it would be a very good change to have Heros given the ability to see the prayer channel, or at least a version thereof, and be able to approve descriptions. It would make them more useful, and take some of the load off the IMM's shoulders.

Can you get to 51 through normal leveling?

In some other games you can get to 50.5 by leveling to that next level, gives you a small perk.

The only problem I see with the hero level is that the Immortals have to really trust the player and character. Once you get hero you are one step closer to being immortal, if not already.

No. It is a position that you apply for, and must be granted. I'm not completely certain, but I believe that there is an hour requirement that, much like quest races/classes, you have to reach before you can even apply.

If there isn't, I wouldn't even think about it until you get AT LEAST 250 hours.

Edit: And come to think of it, I'll have to ask Ergeth, but I believe Aerandal was made a hero towards the end of his life as well.

There was one here for each class.

They couldn't use rare and were were in the PK range for lvl 50s as well.

Heroes were never in the PK range of 50s

When viri made them, there was one for nearly every class and two for warrior

They can't wear rares

They can be in cabals (and lead armies), use the newbie chat, and that is about it

Because heroes can't pk and don't have the roleplaying status of imms, there is -very- little for them to do.

They cannot pk each other. They also seem really weak because they don't have any rares and aren't much help ranking even..so they rarely have any respect from 50s

As Miradus (lvl 51 BMG) I had the flag. Perhaps it wasn't lvl 50s you could fight but lvl 51s. There was definately some sort of PK attached - I don't remember if I could die though.

I'm fairly sure I fought Kothamoth (gnome BMG) as a lvl 51 and almost took him despite having no rare vs his decked status.

They did have the ability to PK each other, afterwards.

Ooh, let 51s kill eachother but make it in a Godwars fashion.

You have to kill them and stun them. Then tie them up and remove their head.

I also say you give them their own (non-rare) but very strong EQ to make them strong so they can actually -be- heroes and not gimped warriors with some sort of supposed status they can't back up.

The idea was that being 51, since you were only in the PK range of other heroes at 51, indicated that not only would you be nearly immune to PK, but also, your skill superceded the need for rares.

The general consensus of the IMMs is that 51 heroes stagnate the playerbase in general.

It would take someone EXTREMELY special to change our minds on that.

People like Morchial, Suunmar, Messalantha, Marty, Azantar, Daemian etc. should be hero'd.

I couldn't agree more.

As Miradus I did try running sessions on how to track and PK people. It was frustrating to say the least when you had 10 interested people and 2 tools area casting/attacking people etc.

There were also other lvl 51 heros (one in particular) who would intentionally cast spells (sanc, heal, etc) while you tried to PK others. I had more than one kill not happen (usually when fighting lvl 50s before I pinnacled) because of my opponent getting sanc after I had them lag locked.

Other things you could do was to help people pinnacle and help them with eq runs. Allright for a while, but you could have a lvl 50 and still do this as well as be able to PK people.

I remember Miradus when he was a hero fighting Aureillhan (sp) when he was the druid hero, Another thing I found quite amussing was you were both outlaws and attacked by the Justice guard captians while you could not target the Justice member.

That's right. Lots of fun trying to help people with Justices coming for you as well. I think two of them actually managed to apprehend me one day. They didn't get the pleasure of executing me though ;-)

That would have been me and Wade, mad that was fun. Unfortunately, shortly after your capture we got the ability to apprehend hero's stripped away.

Didn't Aulian write a 12 page application to be the druid hero?
