Weather

Does snow qualify as 'bad weather' for thunderstorms/call lightning? I'm sure that I could use those two spells in snowstorms before, but when I try now it tells me I need bad weather, after I spend a bit changing the weather to find it going snowy.

Dey

Think about it Dey, how much lightning do you get in a snow storm ussually?

It's a common occurence in Michigan. Really freaky to see. Happens at least three times a winter, near spring.

There can be lightning in snow storms.

It was designed that way for balance reasons so that rangers won't be totally owning in winter and desolution. Imagine a ranger with three pets with an area spell which demolishes everyone in the room every round. I total can clean winter solo and with ease.

Dey, it was probably snowing then calmed down?

I have used call lightning in snow storms just fine. I have decided there are two elements to weather.

Rain and Wind

Rainy and lightning

Snow and wind

Blizzard and lightning

Something similar to that. I don't know what my point is... But it works.

It didn't calm down. I worsened the weather, and it went from cloudy, to rainy, to snowy. I had to wait for it to calm down to lightning before I could use the spell. But I recall I have used thunderstorm/call lightning in snow before. I think. Goddam my memory...

Oh, yeah, and contrary to it's name, the weather isn't always snowing in Winter. Well, it may be in the intro to winter bit, where the Drynoks and Razor Clawed Beasts, if anything (not sure on that, I'm going to look when I logon next)...but not anywhere else.

From my experience, Some places like mountain tops are always snowy when you make the weather worse, And what ever I make the weather, I could not thunderstorm in those places even though I walk one room to the west and I can thunderstorm there, it simply says the sky is too clear.

This was a place where you would normally be able to thunderstorm/call.

Ah well, no great shakes. Just don't call/storm in snow.

Dey

...It works. At least when i've done it. Loosers

I am telling you, it hasn't worked in snow now for me, on more than one occassion.

The Imms must be gimping my chars on account of my impeccable PK record.

Dey

Well, I've found my only problem with control weather was on my stone ranger who no matter how many times he'd cast it to make it worse it would never happen.

Dey

Usually such a perfect winless PK record doesn't prompt us to gimp you, but we've made a unique exception...just for you.

You cast 'Control weather' once to change the weather from getting nicer to getting worse, then cast is once every hour after that. E.g I would cast it twice in the first hour, Then once every hour after that. Works everytime.

unless someone is trying to make the weather better

Ogre warrior attempting to fight a ranger...yup, i'm going to be brandishing those control weather staves a lot.

umm....since when do warriors get to use staves?

I've also found call lightning to not work in areas that have snowy weather. While it is simply raining in said areas, it will work. Once you see "it is snowing" or whatever when you type "weather", it will not work. That's been my experience.

if its snowing and you continue to make it worse you will get lightning.

With a pinn'ed invoker you can keep the whole mud in a state of "storm" quite easily.

I found that in places where it snows, when you get to lightning you end up in a blizzard, which also did not allow call lightning to work.

really? hmm...i admit i did not spend much time on my last voker in "wintery" areas.

I just know in the general mud the string from miruvhor to val and the closer adjacent areas thats how it works.

On a side note, i know on any charatcer i can...if i am going to have a chance to fight an invoker i use a certain staff to make the sun shine bright.
