The Big Question! Human or Slith?

Which makes a better thief?

Str is the same.

Dex is similar. (1 point doesn't make much difference)

Con is similar. (1 point doesn't make much difference)

Humans have MUCH better Int/Wis.

That makes them better at defusing traps.

Sliths can shed their skin in combat, which is pretty damn nice for a thief.

Does having a high Int/Wis help with setting traps, or only defusing?

I think Humans/Gnomes should get a bonus when making traps

I think the answer will be an unanimous "SLITH!!!".

Auto-trip is nice and if you go evil, you get dirt kick protection.

Not including the different "races" of slith. Only using the general shed skin. Auto-trip means nothing at 50.

well with humans you also get a good pk range and bonus from magical items, while the slith has a larger pk range.

Auto-trip means nothing at 50.

I would disagree. Yes, most will be flying, but if they walk into an anti-magic trap and lose flight the chance of getting a trip in can get you the kill.

Also, As any slith you also get an extra tail "attack" in most(if not all) combat rounds.

Dont underestimate the power of shed, circlestab, especially if someone lags themselves.

The extra dex will make a difference and not just in your ac

the extra con also comes in handy and with the added shed skin it can be a life saver literally . Plus the extra attack from the tail can do some decent damage. That said with no age penalties humans make a decent choice for thief and the added int and wis will aid in mastering the many skills that are need to make a fearsome thief. To your question on setting traps they do take up mana so more int means more mana pool and on a previous slith thief of mine i did have times with no mana meaning no traps so you would have to keep an eye on it, or you could miss a great oppurtunity. If your new to playing a thief go human, youll be at 50 in no time.

I'll say it, just to save time.

Human.

Faeries make better thieves for two reasons.

A) Less HP

and

Easier to bashlock

Make a human. Everyone else makes sliths. I am sick of it.

Think the slith might be the stronger one though...

Slith is a muh better thief, autotrip is HUGE, shed is HUGE, even the extra align perk is a major deal. Noone mentioned the auto spear mastery, great for even nicer backstabs.

Sure a human thief would be good, just like a human anything is good. But is it the best?

You almost forgot their great blackjacking skill

Soooooo wrong. Even disregarding catching someone with their pants down which can happen pretty often as a thief, there are options that make that skill extremely useful.

(Still want to see a slith thief warder. Roll one already.)

There were two on the way up, but I think all the sliths gave up. I'll make you one after my two current chars condie, though:D

Oh, and I agree fullheartedly with Evangelion on the faeries. They are OVERPOWERED, everybody roll one.

Never even thought this was an issue. Slith, hands down. Failing that, I'd say the question would be more between duergar and human. Probably human.

Shut up, Fiere, everything you play sucks.

You shut up, everything your mom plays sucks!

Lol

I'd pick Duergar over human any day. Magic resistance is nice.

Why would ANYONE roll a Watcher right now? They have too many as it is, compared to their enemies.
