Newb looking for good starter character

i suggest an evil ranger (human or ogre).

1. Camo: hide from everyone but other rangers and...
2. Butcher corpse: mmmmm food.
3. Evil: You can be very openly very greedy.
4. Ranger: Very defensive.
5. Beasts: got to love friends.
6. Ranger: got some cool defensive skills.
7. Fired weapons: you get it early, it is handy.
8. Evil: gets the best gear from mobs, from your enemies, and even from your friends.

Roll one up. Grab several barrels of water. And you will enjoy a fulfilling, albeit short and violent, life.

edit: and has been said before: Join Warmaster. Join the clan, Battle, as soon as possible.

I thought you were the one who hated rangers...

I do. But they are good learning characters. They have been tuned up since I've played one. Plus I suggested evil, not neutral.

Cleric...and a large case of NoDoze caffeine pills for the boredom.

A DK might be the best one. Chose human with adventurer perk for faster ranking.

Paladins dont have dirt kick wich will ruin your ranking untill 20-25.

On your second character make the evil/good cleric.

DK can teatch you the basic of meele and magic. That is why it is so good.

Summon means that you will not need to walk all the way to get the potions/items you need.

Strong ofense, and good defense. Lots of weapons.

And they can eat warriors on low ranks due to Lightning Bolt*.

I used to eat ogre warriors at breakfeast, when i could not get cornflakes.

And at 30 they are the most powerfull class in the game (in the hands of an experienced player).

Druid I say... We should all play druids.

Yeah, if you want to play a Druid, give Aulian a shout and get him to send you his own custom-programmed MUD client called DruClient.exe

Basically, you pick a name, then either human or werebeast, then it automatically goes through the rest of the character creation process and creates you a ranger at rank 1.

And at 30 they are the most powerfull class in the game (in the hands of an experienced player).

IMHO Necromancers are stronger at 30 until about rank 40 than anyone. Zerks and DKs included. Of course, they aren't as easy to play....

No, that was my FL-ranker from a Diablo-esque char_loader that I used when I was trafficking characters on Ebay in 2002.

I say you should play a Ogre Ranger for exploring. You get healing and survivability against unknown mobs. Use this for PK/challenges at first. If you challenge people to a duel, the opponant is usually helpful and usually leaves your stuff if you lose. (True with my WM)

Once you have explored a bit, roll a cleric to identify all the goodies you discovered while exploring. The spells is a good way to learn how to depend on magic to survive.

Dunno about that. I've been killed like...once at rank thirty by a necro. And minotaur zerks can rip them apart without breaking a sweat.

Honestly, at 30, I've never seen a zerker lose a battle. I've been afk and killed people with my zerker. Because I killed them before their initial lag was up. So if you don't think you'll make it to pinn, and just want a starting char to learn the lands a bit with, I'd go with a giant sized zerker.

And that includes Necros and all their little sleep then mals.

Greatest thing I ever saw: I had a mino zerker, necro summons me from my group into a locked room. I immediately charge him, three rounds or so and he's dead. Didn't have a prayer.

I'd say a goodstarter combo (no one will agree w/ me) Is a feral ninja w/ IG friends.

Never played a mino, what size are they? I always thought they were medium.

Mino are giant I am pretty sure, only they dont have the same perks as the other giants, but they have no vuln either, I played a mino zerk a long time ago, they are pretty buff but not sure if they are worth the huge exp pen just for a nice charge

I have played many mino serks and necros to 30.

Smart Necro > Smart Mino Serk

Avg Mino Serk > Average Necro
