Fired weapons

what type of fired weapons does a bard use i picked up a bow but it keeps saying that im not quite sure how to use it.

There are certain flags on certain items that allow only specific race/class/etc. to use them effectively...

so i should be able to use my identify skill to tell right.

I believe (but do not quote me on this) that if your character's level is below the level of the ranged weapon you are attempting to use, that you will receive the message that you are talking about.

Another possibility is that your fired weapons proficiency has something to do with what weapons you can use effectively.

Experiment with different weapons of different levels, and see what you can come up with.

It has something to do with the level. All it means is you won't hit as often, because you aren't strong enough, or the bow is too complex, etc.

Yeah, some muds have level restrictions on eq, so at level 5, you can't have a full suit of red dragon and a holy avenger. I guess thats how it is with the fired weapons here, but I could be wrong.

bards can use bows, though. bows ARE fired weapons.

Yeah, from my understanding it's a level restriction.
