Which class is least eq dependent?

First off...

Hello everyone, just started playing here recently. Found the forum and

have been reading everything I can. I've been having a lot of fun so

far.

I'm wondering which class depends on eq the least? Running around

trying to find great eq all the time isn't fun for me. It seems like either

cleric or shaman would work...is that right?

shaman? Uh... maybe not.. Not if your a drow.. That would be nasty..

um.. honestly? A healer, healer dont need any eq and can be basically impossible to kill so should you pick up some nice stuff.. You willl hold it.. Druids arent to bad either, however if you want to be successful with a druid (successful = killing people of repute/being able to battle em off) you will need some knowledge of eq...

THIS IS A POLL TAKEN ON THE SAME QUESTION:

i would definitely say healer...especially dwarf/halfling b/c of the magic resist. makes it even harder to dispel your spells...of course your practices are more limited than an elf...so it's a tradeoff i guess.

Evil cleric.

Can very easily kill people, especially melee classes, with nothing more than a shield and their respective holy hands.

Evil Cleric seconded, though stay away from ferals.

There's countless other posts on this, check the polls.

Evil Cleric is very defensive. Healing, protections, and similar, mean they can play a defensive reasonably in poor/baseline EQ. Some people have been known to PK with Evil Clerics with nothing but a shield and weapon. Shamans share the same defenses and most protections with an Evil Cleric, so if they play a hit-and-run game I don't see any reason why they should do worse than Clerics (I would think better, actually) in rubbish EQ.

Battlemage is the least EQ-dependant IMO, because all of their defensive and offensive capabilities lie within their spells (barring dancing blade and parry). So a Battlemage wielding a weapon has all of their defenses at hand, as well as all of their offensive capability. Granted they're AC won't be as good as it should be (but BMG has a lot of spells available to boost that).

Invoker could do well in theory, assuming they had a fully charged staff. Though if you're prancing about in no/crap EQ, chances are you might not have a fully charged staff (thanks to recent deaths or whatever).

Of course, remember that although some classes do better than others in rubbish/baseline EQ, it doesn't neccessarily mean that you'll be able to grab a couple of pieces of mithril and head off to slaughter the insanely decked 'BigBadAss' the Ogre Warrior WM Leader.

EDIT: Just to add though, if your problem is not knowing the EQ, learn more about EQ instead of trying for a class that plays without. Regardless of your class, you'll play a lot more effectively if you know about EQ, and your characters after will benefit too.

Are you asking because you want to PK without eq (or without spending HOURS rare hoarding) or asking because you want a class that will allow you to travel around and learn the eq??

If you do want some PK in your life (and who doesn't?) the general rule is that the easier it is to live/escape/survive with a character the harder it is to kill with them.

Clerics are a good example of this - they up and vanish like a fart in the wind the moment you give them a good punch in the mouth but are easy as pie to run from (even the evil ones).

Essentially any class that can cast sanctuary is a good choice (cleric, invoker, shaman). Do not be a healer, you will end up a hand-bag carrying puss like your mate who has been whipped by his girlfriend. You don't want you balls to become the personal property of...well, there are some unsavoury types running around aren't there... :-P

Battlemage isn't a bad choice either (I did a lot of my exploring as a bmage) provided you know what a vial is.

Invokers are a strong choice as well.

Cheers,

Both I suppose. I need to learn the eq first of course. I started a BMG

to do that. I had an evil cleric going, but they just kill so damn slow

that I couldn't bear it.

After I have the basic and semi-advanced gear figured out I'd like to

play something that I can have fun with dressed in semi-advanced gear.

If it takes me longer than 30-45 mins to completely re-equip then it is

a class I'll never play.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I never would have thought

that a BMG would be a good choice, but after playing one for a while

now and looking at them more closely, they seem perfect.

Evil cleric or BMG.

BMG in my opinion.

I always have to echo Viri in these cases, Human Cleric adventurer perk to learn on, condie it, then a Human Dark-knight to get into PK

Human cleric. They kill slow on the low ranks, bunt wonce you hit 30's and 40's they start to kill faster. Because of Dispel Good and Path. Its like a jet plane with afterburners.

Another good class to try to PK with is Human Paladin. With mithril and basic stuff you can PK very well. But they as the clerics are hard to kill with, perhaps harder.

Also realy stock up on vial of santuary, those are the reson i dont play mages. A Paladin/Cleric will always be able to cure his blindness and commune santuary. Mages are to dependent on preparation.

You will notice what im talking about latter.

  1. Healers

  2. Good Cleric

Healers can kick serious *** with ZERO pieces of outside eq. They can MAKE weapons and their spells can replace the need for a shield

I can't see the word edited out by the forum. But I can only assume it's "tea". Because that's about all healer's can kick.

You guys are crazy. Thieves are the LEAST eq dependant. I would know since I went through at least 10 adeptus/etc. suits throughout Goomf's life.

Make a thief and contact me through the forum. I'll tell you the trick to mastering pry/steal in the least amount of time (btw, when I told Despiser that, he was astounded at how easy it is and that he never thought of it in case you rat bastards are doubting my credentials).

Make a thief and start annoying the crap out of people. Trust me...it'll be your favorite character. You might not be a pk king or learn how to pk well, but it's well worth it.

I've got to say from a personal standpoint that a Bmg is my choice, just dance the right weapon.

Umm... My healer did kick some... well better than tea. As a matter of fact, she went toe to toe with a semi-decked bersurker with nothing more than a healer staff and a few spells. Funny as heck, I just didnt bother fleeing when he raged. Of course that was a storm healer...

um, healers can solo like practically anything if they have the patience...

I think you mean sanity, to player a friggin healer to begin with...then stand around for an hour to kill the first mobs in Winter.
