Why, oh why must rare equipment crumble upon death? Sometimes it happens, sometimes not. What does crumbling depend on? Not only that, but when you locate a piece of EQ on a mob then go kill it, it doesn't drop the piece of EQ even though it was supposed to have it...
Equipment crumbling to dust...
You're probably talking about Torilar, huh? Generally it's because too many of that kind of rare is held by players, exceeding the general mud limit.
Not only Torilar, but many mobs with rare EQ. Went through hell to kill the mob, then drops nothing. Even though on locate it had the piece of eq. Once I killed the mob however, it did not repop with the piece of eq.
i believe that a mud reboot or world shift will cause the mob to spawn with the rare item, even if it's over the acceptable limit. however, once said mob has been killed and the rare crumbles the correct balance is reached and the item no longer generates again.
somebody that's actually studied the code might be able to shed some more light on this, but that's my general theory.
rares have been crumbling a bit lately. I just lost a full set. Well besides 3 things. damn hell ![]()
Good to notice that when the mud is down for a long period of time and you find a lot of rares that shouldn't be there (or maybe not even noticed them, just the long period of time)....don't die
....ya...I know, not exactly great advice but watch yourself even more carefully until the limit for the rared items are reached again [Generally this happens (not sure why on the server idea) after a long down time]....just don't die for awhile or kill people that have your same eq, heh
Actually, I remember this happening a lot a while ago too. It was right after the game went down. The game went down again, maybe when they got it up they forget to change the rare limits again?
No, it's that the rare limits have been fixed, not broken. It'll even out in time.
I lost a full set last night to crumbling, and none of it ever showed back up.
If it crumbles, it will most likely not be there. It crumbles because there are to many of that rare.
The rare limit seems to be abnormally (or now righted to be normally, but still apart from the status quo we have been used to) low. Hence, a suddenly lower rare limit means that there is a lot of 'overloaded' stuff out there. It stays till you die, then crumbles.
