maledictive?

so flashfire and thunderclap...are they maledictive spells?

I'd say no. Think about it, compare them to other spells you know what kind they are...

Mals usually are things that are cast on you and then do something for a time. No area attacks like flashfire.

Flashfire is much more like fireball. Now find out what kind fireball is

For flashfire, I would think it is maledictive. The method inwhich it blinds you is similar to flamestrike/firestorm (in that you are being blinded by a flash of light or from smoke, as opposed to a shaman directly actually blinding you) but the blindness shows up in your affects list as "blindness" similar to that of a shaman's blinding, not Fire Breath or anything else. So even though being blinded by a flash isn't really a malediction, the affects seem to be the same as the malediction version. So it might be debatable. If that makes any sense, anyway; I could be wrong.

Thunderclap again, doesn't seem like it is a malediction, as a thunderclap confusing you isn't really a malediction. But I'm not entirely sure.

I would think that thunder clap would be mental because it confuses you, as for flashfire I am unsure. but would imagine it would be mal or mental.

Pretty sure you are wrong. I'd say both are afflictive, flashfire saving against both afflictive for damage and maledictive for the effects. I could be wrong though.

(Way to test: get 30 saves in the categorie you think it is, have a friend cast it, remove the saves, have him cast again, try the other categories. IC friend of course.)

flash fire does no damage. thunderclap does damage.

an interesting thought, how does one actually for sure know which spells are which? I mean, obviously when you been playing here as long as some of us have the knowledge is kinda passed down, figured out, and guessed but still, is there no way to know for sure which spells are which?
