Proper Application RP

I was fairly sure this had been addressed before, but could not find it. So I will ask it now and hope to get a clear answer from the people who actually decide on these things. I ask as much for myself as any others who have been curious and hope any confusion can be closed as well as anything considered 'bad RP' can be dispelled.

When you are roleplaying your character and have a specific story line laid out that leads to a reclass or remort, what is the proper side to be showing? Should I RP my life before this transformation, or should I RP a life post transformation?

I think the question is most pertinent when the former life, and the new life are considerably different as in cases such as undead and demon.

My instinct tells me that I should RP the life that leads up to the change, even though this may not be the picture of what the help files say, or what the RP will be like afterwards.

Essential break down: Do you RP what you intend to be before you are altered, or should you stick to the RP of what you were before that time even though it may not be exhibiting the actions of what you are applying for. Many of the details in the moment of transformation, and history (that the character has been displaying) would show up in the application.

I have always found it strange to RP as if I was already something that I am not currently. I tend to live through my characters as if in a story with a plot progression and timeline that potentially changes the nature of my character.

What I am looking for here is some peace of mind I suppose. It will be comforting to know that when I apply for things, I am not expected to follow some strict RP formula where I have to go around acting as if I am already accepted or acting beyond where I want my character to be at that moment.

I have also been curious on other facts that would follow similar tones. What if prior to such a change, your character was somewhat peaceful. After the change, their aggressiveness might be toned up. What of the time during application, etc, when you didn't avidly find reasons to enter into PK and stayed mainly in the RP region. Does not participating in PvP hurt your chances? ...not for lack of skill, or cowardly behavior, but simply because its not yet part of your RP.

For a Qrace app such as Undead/Demon, I don't think you should RP as if you are already the Qrace beforehand. They are supposed to be blessings/curses/whatever you want to call them, from their specific God, that are granted and you are transformed. You are applying to your specific God, to have them transform you into Undead/Demon, in a nutshell. Although they are examples that are used a lot, you could RP that you have some sort of sick undead-disease running through your blood, or that you're possessed by some demon or whatever, but I don't think you could RP actually being one of these Qraces prior to having an approved app.

For race restrings, unless there is some reason why you shouldn't be, RP them as if you are that race from the start. With restrings, you are supposed to be already that race (unless again, there are other RP reasons or something why it should be changed later) and you are applying to have it look as if you are that particular race.

EDIT: Just to add, about you RPing being peaceful before restring and then agressive afterwards, I think that would most definately work. I can't really talk on behalf of the Imms who check the apps, but applying for a Qrace is not just about PK.

If you're RPing that you're already a qrace/qclass, apply at lvl 15 before you get your description checked, and have your description reflect the qrace/qclass you're applying for. I'm not sure if Vampire is lvl 30 only, but I do know undead/demon is 15-30. People wonder why its 15-30 and hardly anyone gets it at 15, and IMMs in the past have said that great RP will most likely allow you to get a qrace/qclass at 15.

Vamp/Undead/Demon

All of these things CANNOT be rp'd before you have been given the gift from your god. You can however rp the desire for it, the burning passion that is your life. For example the thirst for blood or rotten flesh. Any number of things.

Healer/Druid/Crusader/Avatar

All of these things MUST be rp'd in order for you to truely take your rp to the next level. You are not required for druid and healer to apply, but believe me if you are aggressive before you go healer or hunt in Emerald prominently, it is noticed and you are marked. The honor and tenacity required for a Crusader and Avatar are always key factors. This should be the absolute START for all of the chars rp, past and present alike. If you have a char history, find someone and talk about it. Cry, laught, exact revenge on any who will listen.

Restrings

Has to be done from the get go. Make SURE that you get some imm involvement. If you don't draw their attention without an app, your chances are slim. As well, dragon restrings are very very rare. So if this is the direction you want to take, set your ducks in a row.

90% of the time if you do this, you will be told to change your desc until approved.

If you want to try to RP yourself as the qrace or qclass, stay at lvl 15 and wait for a desc check/app approval. If its denied, just change your desc and RP it out like the god didn't want you, and restricted your powers.. or something. That's why I think you're even allowed to apply at 15.

Do whatever works for you.

The exception being vamps, undead, demons, etc IMO. You're not undead (demon, vampire) yet, and you could be denied the 'gift' of unlife (blood, possession). But that doesn't mean that you should stop your RP.

So. RP it all beforehand:

Naga says "Look! I'm a Naga!"

Warrior says "I aspire to be a crusader. I shall be one."

RP it afterwards:

Wemic says "I'm not a Wemic!"

Elf says "You look like a Wemic."

Wemic says "I'll be damned. Perhaps I am."

Crusader says "I did not ask for this gift, yet I was blessed due to my deeds and now I am."

Again, do whatever works for you. Be creative.

Go up to Malchaeius and tell him you are a demon (when you aren't) and see what happens.

Go up to Chayesh and tell him you are a vampire (when you aren't) and see what happens.

These are gifts, not only gifts but honors granted ONLY by the gods. If you run around screaming you are a vampire and have no indeed been proven worthy, bad mojo, bad mojo.

RL Example:

I am a cop, even though I really have never been to the Police Academy but I follow laws and the like.

I am the president of the United States because I can do just a good of a job and I was voted into the Senate.

Just because you have those hopes does NOT mean you have the gifts you CAN receive. There are expectations above and beyond that of a non vamp/demon. These are just two No No's.

Now you can always, always go the insane route and act accordingly. If you think you are a vampire elf who drinks the blood of demons as a laxative...have fun. But those of you who are serious about said gift, act accordingly.
