Herald.

HERALD

Millenia ago, during the first War of the Legions, there existed a formal

guild of explorers with a thirst of knowledge so intense, that they would

venture into unknown and hostile territory to sate that thirst for but a

single moment. But as war often does, this guild, known as Herald, was put

to use in combat. Acting upon orders of the High King of Aabahran, the guild

of Herald were commissioned as Military Advisors, using their knowledge of

the lands to aid in the war.

For the duration of the War, Herald stood beside the King and his court

of advisors, dispensing information that had taken ages to acquire. Local

myths, legends, rumors... The King wanted to know everything that would

be of use. Libraries were emptied, their tomes and scriptures brought

before the King to be perused at his leisure, and in the fray, much was

lost. They had become little more than a tool. And as history has shown,

tools that have lost their usefullness, are often thrown away.

When the War of the Legions finally subsided, the Heralds were of no more

practical use, and were decommissioned; sent back to the dusty libraries

from whence they came. But the guild remained. They sat in the background

and watched idly as the Kingdom collapsed. They watched as the King was

slain, and all that he surveyed plunged into Chaos. With the King's death,

their tie to the Kingdom was severed, and they became autonomous, answering

to no one but themselves. And thus began a period of renewal.

Since the dark days of the first War of the Legions, the Heralds have

spared no expense at the acquisition of knowledge. They are in possession

of the single most expansive library in Aabahran, overshadowing even that of

the Tower of Savant's. Little passes by the scrutinous eye of a Herald, and

the eyes of Herald are many.

Answer #1:

Heralds are the pansy cabal of FL. They're not needed, but placed there for those who cannot PK.

And didnt the Academy joined forces with Herald ?

Answer #2:

Academy did join forces with Herald, in order to sucker newbies into that pansy cabal, the only people that would think that HERALD was cool.

Are Heralds mentaly PK gimped like bards used to be ? (akin to healers)

Answer #3:

Mentally PK gimped like bards of old? Sorta. Just the talent of the HERALD PBase reflects to show that they are PK Gimps to begin with. See also: Answer #1.

You forgot the smilie on your post.

Originally, Heralds were advisors to the Royalty of Aabahran. Think of them like the Jedi Council without the combat skills.

Not ALL of them are non-PK characters, but in more recent times, the Heralds have established themselves as a neutral party (for the most part), acting as the official scribes, town criers, messengers, sages, and witnesses to the history of Aabahran. They do NOT have a PK-shield akin to bards of old as they have abilities to protect them which we don't really need to discuss.

Because of their mostly non-combative nature, they do tend to collect the more RP intensive players, however, that may just be the nature of that particular character. Mess with one, and you might find that you bit off more than you could chew. Case in point, Despiser had a Herald once. Gimped yes, but a Herald nonetheless.

Hope that helps.

You forgot the smilie on your post.

No I didn't.

....

...

...Kidding...

So if i make a Demon DK and Join Herald and try to teatch my dark ways by gaining a High level malform and become the scourge of Aabahran i will eventualy get gimped...

Bummer, better roll gnome warrior or a healer.

"Heralds are the pansy cabal of FL. They're not needed, but placed there for those who cannot PK."

Sorry, you should realy put the smile in your post.

"Heralds are the pansy cabal of FL. They're not needed, but placed there for those who cannot PK."

I resent that.

I'm really sorry that you resent that. But it's true.

Chayesh nailed me true when he stated that I forgot my smiley. Hence the second post. My humor, as he noted there, can be quite ... subtle at times. Best word I can use to describe it at the moment. But that's all that it was ment to be. Humor. If there was absolutely no point to HERALD's, they wouldn't last past the next world shift. You know that. They know that. I know that.

I can't really think of a better response to the last part of your post that would not end up turning the thread into a flame, either by myself or by others, than I agree with your comment half the time. I'll leave it at that since I'm tired and can't think straight.

Good night.

Heralds are the pansy cabal of FL. They're not needed, but placed there for those who cannot PK.

That's like saying "humans don't need a tongue, but only placed there so they can talk and taste food."

Hm. I guess I'm a pansy because I couldn't PK and joined Herald with Jisil. (Case in point, I kicked *** with Jisil before I started to delve into RP. Ask everyone I owned over and over )

PLUS, Pominsu. Yes, I think I did pretty damn good in the PK/RP department. Though not 'elite' so to say, but I know how to PK, I know how to RP, and I know how to run like hell/chase like a maggot stuck to meat. It's not a pansy cabal. It's fun, it's NEEDED for those who like the RP part of FL more than the PK part. But then again, you can put as much RP as you can PK in any other cabal. Herald is just more fun to do it with, hence their selection of skills.

I wasn't LEADER because of my PK abilities or my uberness (), but because I had fun RP'ing with her, and had a blast roughing it up after getting kicked out of Knight by Raargant for.. assisting a little itty bitty lvl 30 with sanctuary after another lvl 30 attacked him. My bad.

Humor is lost on you all. Mine at any rate. I give. shakes his head

Don't feel bad. Now you too know what it's like to suffer from possessing a comedic genius that no one else understands.

I feel your pain.
