bad RP

bad RP to know someone's name? like, OOC, you know, but yer char would have to ask, right?

Who. Whois. Who pk/religion/clan/cabal. Just say that you've heard of them, doesn't matter where.

I agree with Tom, I think it is bad rp to try and use rp to make someone else look like they are rping poorly. If they address you by your name the first time you meet let it go, dont send them some tell saying how you have never met etc...

I ask thier name, and refer to them as some funny description for thier race, before they tell me.

oh, no. i dont say like 'how do you know my name? I've never met you!' or anything, i just ask others for thier names.

Everyone has their own methods of introduction, and many people will even change it each time. I think good rp is simply when all parties interact in a way that promotes more good rp.

Unless someone is really doing something OOC it's best to try and use good rp on them to salvage whatever they are trying.

Hrm, I am having trouble saying what I am thinking. Basically, give people the benefit of the doubt, it takes a better rper to encourage interaction than to make someone look dumb or in the wrong.

Players are "well known adventurers", whom names have spred like a wildfire. I play with that "thumbrule". Always have...

You have game mechanics and you have role play. You shouldn't know someone's name when you first talk to them, but also, you shouldn't be able to send a person you've never met a tell across the world asking them a question, or talking to them. So I don't see the problem in knowing someone's name, just like, You don't know if they are going to be given another life when you kill them, so why wouldn't you take all their items? They're dead aren't they? But knowing they are going to be back, you don't full loot(Or maybe you do, depends on RP right?) Sometimes games mechanics comes into play I think.

Follow what F-3000 said. PC's in FL are "Hero's" of the realm. They are well-known by many and are universally accepted as 'above' common citizens(mobs).

If the world wide city pop. is 200k+ then it is only natural to have 1000 some 'Heros.'

Also, just because some character says something, do not think it is true. He can be lying, expecialy evils.

I usually RP it this way.

If they are say rank 40 and above (based on titles, you eventually figure this out, especially who's at 50), I'll know their name.

Lower ranks, my characters won't.

The exception to this is if they are a clanmate, or someone I should know based on my clan/cabal status.

Well, that is a good debate, about whether you's know they'd be back. See, if everyone you killed came back, you'd be used to it.

thats a good rule of thumb, chayesh
