Something easy to work with. Sorry I know I'm just talking up the forum space today, but its frustrating thinking about every aspect here. I think warrior, and I'm like yeah, BASH BASH BASH, but then I'm like weapon vulns, vials, -uber eq=plague, poisoned, dys, and then that idea craps. I like the cleric, but I hate to rank a cleric, because you can maybe only kill one mob every 10 min's alone if needed with him, annoying. Pali, theres to many of those right now. Ya just can't make up your freaking mind, and then suck of being a good when you get your tail handed to ya on a constant basis, because you can't find the eq or do the right skills at the right time. Man this game can weigh heavy on your thoughts, guess I'm just thinking to much into it....
any suggestions to a good starter class?
Dkn
Try a DK, I have been thinking about it myself.
From one wannabe good player to another, maybe DK will get some ppl scared of you.
edit: Damn, if Goomf put that in while I was typing it up, I must be on to something!
guess I could give that a shot, always heard you can just change your style of combat at any given time, from bashing to fireballs, alot of options on them.
pal/dkn are perfect choices for starter classes.
tried the pali, get your tail handed to you everytime by evil clerics, sermon=end game
Good Cleric.
More survivability and more pk potential than a paladin.
freind had a 50 pali he just gave up playing so I was just gonna equip and fight till he con deathed, hes still not dead but dang close. Survivability seems good with them, but all in all, its just as easy to land sermon on them as it is anyone else. Hes an elf even, tired of evil clerics, haven't been playing that long since I played in 1.0, and left, but they seem unstoppable, nonlaggable, and just to powerful. Not gonna roll one up because everyone wants to be one, and I don't follow the over population of people that go for the next powerful class that comes into play. Sorry just rambling on kind of sounds like a flame so I'm gonna stop. Thanks for input.

Nice idea, but im pretty sure any form of character sharing is illegal.
not sharing if he doesn't use it anymore is it? Wouldn't think it to be, the char isn't in a cabal of any kind or nothing he just stopped playing him a long time ago. he doesn't even play fl anymore, so I didn't see any harm in having a look at him and playing around with one a bit. If the Imm's tell me other wise though, well hes a gonner!
I am no authority, but it seems if someone else rolled it and pinned it, any and all rp of that char up until he left was his. It would not be very IC for someone else to take it over. Just struck me as something the imms might not be ok with. Im sure sooner or later one of them will let you know if it is alright or not.
If you did not roll the character it is trading.
Trading is highly illegal, we ban for that.
Just in case someone didn't connect the dots. ![]()
yeah I have to apologize to yah there Polk, I busted a gut when i read that, kinda thinking to myself man what a bad start he won't be around for long. give'em a break on that Behrens, he honestly couldn't have known...he wouldn't have posted it if he did. Yeah dk's after failing with a few mage classes i moved to dk's to learn from....but honestly if you want something to have a fun time with while learning the ropes at the same time try a ranger, trust on this one. Everyone always says warrior or cleric to learn from, and yeah they work but rangers...oh god....i think they are just about the best class to learn with.
Rangers are good.
Strong Melee, while highly survivable.
But I reccomend cleric for the sheer ease you learn the lands, suit, stay alive and pk. Also, I can easily see a first pinn cabal if its a cleric, whereas I can't see a first pinn in many classes go anywhere very often, unless you are a pretty serious mudder.
Well, just the scared thought of being thrown out of here, I almost deleted his char, but I figure its his, so let him do the honors and I just won't touch any longer. Get my own to 50 and see what happens eh?! Sounds like a good plan, just rolled up a cleric if ya have to know what I was goin with, got on, and boom, looking around and there seems to be alot more good clerics running around, heh. No worries though gonna keep at it see how things go. Appreciate the starter tips, and good gaming
What you should as first thing as a cleric is to get a decent Whip and become proficient with it.
You only get parry at a high level and till then this is the weapon you whould be using against anyone who tries to kill you at the lower ranks.
And focus on hitroll over dam roll. You cant dirt or blind but you can flee and cure. Small damage over time is better than not getting big damage because you cannot hit them.
Depends on the race.
If its an elf you rolld, don't worry about hr or dr too much, because you're going to be more spell reliant.
Though I think some will disagree I think rolling one of the less survivable classes (and by less survivable I mean focuses more on offense than defense) or a semi-survivable classes is a good way to get into the swing of things. I think if you play classes that are self-sufficient, that can hide, that can gate/word and so on straight from the bat, it makes it harder to want play a class that can't do all those, and you may even well get reliant on them. It certaintly is for me - I've never once played a class like warrior/zerk because I don't like the idea of not having detect invis on tap, or being able to hide when things get tough.
My vote goes to a human warrior or perhaps a dark-knight. Especially if you really go for it PK wise.
Just my thoughts anyway.

Viri always said the best way to get into pk was a DK.
Heh...that rhymes.
