Do these get purged on purpose from time to time? I've had no less 100k in my bank for some time, been hanging around 200k for the past rl month, and when I need that set of mithril and titanium bracers, I find out I don't have a stash anymore....rather disappointing.

This happens when you get caught and executed by a tribunal. That could be the case.
