How to Rank Fast
There are two ways to rank quickly:
I
Take the Adventurer class power rank to whatever level you need, get the best pets and some armor, then convert to your definitive guild. Continue power ranking on your final class while letting pets tank.
This lets you save about 10 practices and allows certain races to save a lot of work if they plan to spend only 1 practice (powergaming). Monks also get an easier way to train some weapons this way.
As a newbie, don’t bother with this—just apply for the Journeyman boost.
II
Power rank with your definitive class from the start.
This can be harder for some players, especially with classes like mages.
This all very subjective and everyone may have different ways, this is just meant to be a guide to get you started if you’re new to the game.
Ranking
First, hunt in the arena (bandits and mercenaries) until you are very close to level 6—but not level 6 yet.
If you need to heal, move out of the arena to the south MUD school and sleep.
Once you’re close to level 6:
• Take the portal out of the mud school to any city
• Visit all temple pits to look for equipment from dead characters
Find the practice dummy in Maelbrim:
• He gives you 15,000 gold and asks for a practice weapon (You can buy from Igor in Falen Dara)
• Consider keeping both the gold and your novice weapon for now
Use the gold to:
• Buy the T-shirt from a vendor Maelbrim near the north plaza
Next:
• Travel through the newbie school to Val Miran
• Buy a katana near the central square (or elf city for a blade if ur good/neutral)
• Return to Maelbrim
Level 6+
Go to the Kamir Caves (north of Maelbrim):
• Kill bats until you hit level 6
• You will lose arena shortcuts
In the southwest part of the caves:
• Find a bracer in a locked chest
• The key is in a nearby corpse
• Leave and wait ~3 minutes for respawn to farm another bracer
Now:
• Hunt rats or
• Do quests (recommended for mages)
Goal: reach level 8.
Level 8
At this point:
Go to the Elven Kingdom:
• Buy an alsatian pet (very strong until ~15)
• Buy backpacks
• If needed, buy an Elven Girdle for DEX
Focus on good AC to reduce damage.
• Visit the stables for quest XP and a free horse
• Turn in your practice weapon to the scarecrow for XP
• Start guild quests
Always use a horse. Never be without one.
