others shone faintly with stretched skin across their tops. Thick folds ran
along the sides of his neck and beneath his jaw, marked by shallow cuts and
pale lines from healed wounds. Sparse black hairs grew from his shoulders,
forearms, and across the backs of his hands in irregular patches. 

His hands were broad with swollen knuckles and thick fingers ending in blunt
nails the color of yellowed bone. Several nails were split near the edges
and worn flat at the tips with dark grime packed underneath. The skin around
the nail beds was cracked and callused with small patches of peeling flesh
along the joints. Veins stood raised beneath the skin of his forearms and
the backs of his hands, twisting between old scars and rough patches of
hardened tissue. His lips were wide and dry with several small cuts along
the lower edge, exposing short tusk like lower canines that pushed upward
from his jaw.
