The Hall of Chivalry
The upper stairs of the Paladin Guild is a simple, comfortable looking
room, much like the living room of a private home. An area to the side has
been converted into an impromptu ambulance and several young men and women
care for anyone needing their attention there. Protheus oversees their
efforts vigilantly, lending his hand where it is most needed.
[Exits: down]
(White Aura) Protheus the Holy Knight is here, aiding those in need.
Qhussusk flies in.
The Blood Guard flies in.
Some ectoplasm solid flows in.
Qhussusk looks at you.
A towering figure stands wrapped in layered crimson robes that fall in
heavy folds to the floor, the cloth split into long tapered panels around
narrow, digitigrade legs. Pale violet skin shows beneath the garments,
smooth in some places and ridged along the throat and upper chest. Its
elongated head rises high above the body, bald and faintly veined beneath
stretched flesh. Deep amber eyes rest beneath a heavy brow while four thick
facial tendrils hang from where a mouth should rest, draping well below the
waist in slow curling lengths.
Dark metallic armor frames the upper body in jagged overlapping plates
worked with dull gold and clusters of crimson stones. Broad shoulder guards
curve upward like hooked wings around the neck, while ornate bracers sheath
the forearms in sharpened ridges of engraved metal. Slim hands end in long
black claws curved like hooks, hanging loosely at either side of the figure.
A sculpted metal belt rests low across the waist, shaped in twisted faces
and worn patterns above robes that darken from deep crimson into near-black
near the hem.
The creature's posture remains unnaturally straight, shoulders held high
while the tendrils lie motionless across the front of its robes. Thin clawed
feet emerge from beneath the layered cloth, planted close together beneath
the sweeping folds.
It has done a fair amount of traveling.
Qhussusk is in excellent condition.
[Qhussusk] 'Sheath your weapon.'
You say 'Whom are you that might request me to put my blades away?'
[Qhussusk] 'I am Tribunal. I enforce the laws.'
You sheath your weapon.
Aelindra stares at Qhussusk with mild confusion.
You say 'There is no law in the realm of Avalon that would have her knights put their blades away.'
[Qhussusk] 'Do the laws confuse you, elf?'
'They do,' Aelindra confirms with a nod.
[Qhussusk] 'I suggest you read our Maxim. It will outline what will let you be a citizen, and what will get you hanged.'
You say 'My fealty is to my Queen. It supersedes all mortal and divine commands.'
[Qhussusk] 'That is fine. Worship whatever God you wish. But in these walls, you follow our rule.'
Aelindra gives a little shake of her head, a frown wrinkling her forehead.
You say 'I was sent to Aabahran to recover the Holy Grail. It was stolen from us.'
[Qhussusk] 'What is this holy grail? Who do you suspect have it?'
You say 'And yet... when I hoped to entreat the aid of the monarch of these lands, I am told... you have none?'
[Qhussusk] 'Monarchs. That is entertaining. There are many who deem themselves kings or queens. But none the masses as a whole respect.'
'The Holy Grail is the birthright of the realm of Avalon,' Aelindra replies, a look of mild confusion visible on her face. 'Everyone knows this.'
[Qhussusk] 'I've not heard of this grail. However.. There is a land to the north. Filled with clocks and gnome engineering. There is mention of it there.'
You say 'Without it, we are in grave danger.'
Aelindra nods her head slowly. 'To the north, hrm? This is the first clue I have obtained on my sacred quest. You have my sincerest thanks, lawkeeper.'
Qhussusk nods at you in agreement.
[Qhussusk] 'For respecting our laws. Carry on in peace.'
You say 'I have another question. More... mundane, in nature.'
[Qhussusk] 'Oh?'
You say 'We have never ventured beyond the black knight's post in living memory, and now... I find myself in these strange new lands.'
You say 'Where, uh, might I find shelter? I cannot spend the nights sleeping in the guildhall.'
[Qhussusk] 'I've been to your realm. I can understand this would be rather shocking.'
[Qhussusk] 'There is an inn here in Maelbrim. Tamara makes breakfast as well.'
You say 'Do you have quarters for your knights somewhere in the city?'
You nod at Qhussusk.
[Qhussusk] 'I will warn you though. The guildhall may be safer. These lands are filled with criminals and rogues.'
'And do not worry,' Aelindra continues, hafting her spear. 'If anyone dares break your peace while I am around, I shall impale them on my spear.'
You say 'I have already been warned there are many servants of Darkness in these lands.'
[Qhussusk] 'That is not needed. Unless given permission, or the foe is an outlaw in our realm. Assisting will create more chaos. Thus, making you a criminal as well.'
Softly, Aelindra says, 'I.. do not understand.'
You now follow Qhussusk.
You say 'Will you take me to this Maxim you spoke of?'
[Qhussusk] 'I am empowered in this realm to enforce the laws. You are not.'
Qhussusk nods.
------
You follow Qhussusk.
The Val Miran Portal
The city gate had to be relocated eventually, as the former one proved
too unstable after the Rift and the following explosions that rocked
Rheydin. Too many customer complaints - or rather the complaints of
relatives left behind - eventually led to the closing up of the old gate and
the creation of this new one, which has proven stable, so far...
[Exits: east]
The Imperial Maxim has been nailed to the wall here.
Qhussusk the Master of the Sixth Sense is here.
A gate golem stands motionless, awaiting your decision.
The Blood Guard flies in.
Some ectoplasm vapor floats in.
Aelindra says to Qhussusk, 'Many thanks.'
You now follow yourself.
You stop following Qhussusk.
[Qhussusk] 'For your reading leasure while waiting for these gates.'
Aelindra stares at Qhussusk blankly.
You say '...gates?'
[Qhussusk] 'Portals. Purchased from the Savants. They will teleport you from city, to city.'
You say 'I see no gates here. I came through the southern gates, but we still remain in the city.'
You say 'Oh.'
[Qhussusk] 'Similar to the tome you read, I assume.'
You say 'I feel a bit dumb. I still have much to learn.'
'I understand now,' Aelindra says, smiling gently at Qhussusk.
Qhussusk nods at you in agreement.
[Qhussusk] 'Keep your wits about you. Outside these walls is dangerious.'
[Qhussusk] 'Be well citizen.'
You say 'I will be mindful of danger.'
You say 'And you, lawkeeper.'
Qhussusk nods.
Qhussusk flies east.
Some ectoplasm solid flows east.
The Blood Guard flies east.
<< Some days later >>
You tell Qhussusk 'This is the first time I have been served muffins for breakfast. I am...'
You tell Qhussusk '...in awe.'
Also, is it not possible to manually color text with the new forum layout? Some speech emoting and telepathy doesn't get picked up by the mudlogger.
