setup in the middle.  Surrounding it are number of makeshift beds and

and notes, in impressive state of disarray.  Gathering that this must be 
the tent of whoever is in charge of this small army you conclude that 
perhaps diplomacy should take precedence here.  Especially when you 
consider the amount of armed presence in this room.  The entrance flap 
of the tent is north.

I think I'm missing something here.

It’s more the confluence of it being 3d17, a flail, and having a paralyze proc in the hands of a dk. If you asked me to design the ideal dk offhand, I’d hand you back something like this exactly and expect it to be rejected.

Offhand? Shouldn't be an offhand. IMO, paralyze probably shouldn't be on anything that could be offhanded. We can discuss. We'll watch in the mean time.

He is actually dual wielding 2 paralyzing weapons in this log. Notice the chomp? ;)

I'm impressed you noticed what he was wielding from these admittedly short logs, given not once did the proc fire.
That was a joke, by the way. I'm aware of the look command in game.

Still, I dug into this a little deeper.

Out of all the weapons that we have paralyze on them, and there aren't many:

• Half of them can be used as an offhand.
  • The other half are 2h.
• It's the heaviest of the lot (excluding 2h). Meaning you'd need to find a suitable main-hand you can use. Admittedly, this isn't that hard.
  • The lightest is 2lbs, fwiw.
• This is the second flail.
• As for the dice: yes, it would malform at the highest average. The others that they could have done this with aren't far behind. A point or two isn't going to make or break the weapon.

I'm not seeing all that much of an issue with it, to be honest.
Yes, a flail is a fairly offensive weapon, but the whip would have been more so.
Yes, more classes know whips than flails, but most of those classes are also some flavor of caster, so the advantage is minimal.
