I was looking for a fantasy world setting called Abydian and stumbled across this game.I don't know how to play this game and kept walking into wall……Does anyone have any tips for a total newbie?(´▽`★)
total newbie, found this place by accident
I guess the first question would be: how familiar are you with Multi User Dungeons in general? Hopefully the Sanctum of Genesis helps given it was designed for those who aren't that familiar with MUDs. And we're always looking to improve on that.
Exits to rooms are given to you when you look and when you enter:
The Spiritual Void
An endless sea of light, and you find yourself smack dab in the middle of
it. Below, a shimmering veil of grayish fog separates you from what appears
to be the corporeal world. Even as you drift in the brilliantly glowing
ether, you can sense something tugging at your spirit, drawing you downward
closer and closer to the haze. Though you have no sense of motion or
direction here, you know you must eventually pass through that veil. The
only question that remains... Is what waits on the other side?
Through the shimmering fog, you can see there is a sense of physical
structure and stability down below that you will never find in this void.
Perhaps you should give in and head DOWN below to see what awaits.
[Exits: down]
(Glowing) (Humming) A shimmering veil of gray fog swirls below you, separating the spiritual and physical worlds.
You have been equipped by the Gods.
The room you load into when you finish character creation. The only way here is down. Literally in this case.
The Practice Yard
In a stark contrast to the castle's interior, the practice yard is bright
and warm in the rays of the sun. Dry earth crunches underfoot, with an
occasional spot of mud formed around a pool of blood or bile spilt by the
eager novices hard at work training their combat abilities. All around you,
the sights, sounds, and smells of battle permeate the open area, a symphony
of slaughter cast into the hazy sky above.
[Exits: north east]
Exits are north and east.
You can also put exits on your prompt, but we can cover that later.
Learning the lay of the land is probably the most important. Start with the Sanctum of Genesis. You should have loaded in with a map in your inventory: a folded map labeled "The Sanctum of Genesis"
We have a map of all of our areas in the sidebar to the left. Read it by using the command look map or more specifically look sanctum or other keywords:
Object 'map sanctum genesis' is type chart, material paper. Extra flags: none. Weight is 0, value is 0, level is 1.
In this case, the keywords are 'map' and 'sanctum' and 'genesis'
This, hopefully, helps you get started with some very basics.
While the game is Roleplay Enforced, there is a newbie channel newbie [your message] to help with the more mechanical aspects of the game while in game.
We've also a Discord, which may be a good idea. Link is also on the sidebar.
Thanks for your reply(¯▽¯)ゞI'm not familiar with MUD,and I'm even not a native English speaker(so playing this game is kind of tough).I'll give it a shot and see if I can get the hang of this game(even if it's just trying to practice English)
PS:Because of the firewall, I can't use Discordᔦ°꒳°ᔨ̖́
We've had multiple people use the game to practice their English over the hears, and have multiple non-native speakers here as well.
Your country's firewall? That's a shame.
All the more reason why forums are important!
If you think of the game as a rogue-like in terms of movement, it may help?
Thanks! I think I totally get it now. I just need to figure out a way to speed up my reading of English texts and I should be good.ദ്ദി (⩌ᴗ⩌ )
If you've got any additional questions, and I'm sure there will be many as new players often do, we're more than happy to help.
I have some questions……1 How do I get food? If I keep starving, will I die? 2 What do the different colors on the map blocks mean? 3 Which shop can I buy “love”T-shirt?ദ്ദി (⩌ᴗ⩌ )
Yes, you will starve if you don't eat. Though adventurers level 10 and under should be immune to hunger damage.
You can buy food at various merchants in towns. I'd go to Tamara in Maelbrim as she's open 24/7. And they're cheap.
The Rheydin Rubble T-Shirt is also in Malebrim. Use list to view a shop's items.
The different colored blocks on the map are room sectors, such as lava and air and forests. Each have a different move cost to go through them. Some have special properties such as needing to be flying (air/cyan) or requiring a boat (swim/dark blue). Though the water rooms, you can fly through them as well.
I got killed by accident, and because I got lost, I couldn't find the corpse within the thirty hours in the game(›´ω`‹ ) The guide said I should go find the pit in temple/church,but I couldn't find it(where's the pit...).What should I do if I really can't find it?(𖦹.𖦹)
It varies depending on your hometown.
Most hometowns have only the one pit, such as Marak or Deliverance or the Elven Kingdom.
Val Miran has two: one if you're neutral aligned, the other if you're good aligned.
Maelbrim has three, one for each alignment.
If you can't make it back to your corpse, your items will spawn inside the pit.
Your pit:
- Is where you spawn when you die.
- Is where you go when you recall.
- Those characters under Level 10 can recall for free. Use
recallor/and you'll appear at your pit. Use it when you're lost. - If you're higher than Level 10, you'll either need a spell like word of recall or quaff a potion of recall.
This is but one of several you can purchase.Object 'potion recall' is type potion, material liquid. Extra flags: none. Weight is 0.1, value is 3500, level is 1. Level 30: 'word of recall' 'shield' 'reserved' 'reserved'.
- Those characters under Level 10 can recall for free. Use
So……i can't go back to academy after level six, right? How should I leave my hometown and move to another city?(I'm in ruins of Xymerria)(›´ω`‹ )
Correct. L6 is when the apron strings are cut for the Sanctum of Genesis.
First, there's two ways out of Xymerria. You can use the map on the sidebar.
If you're using our web client, you should have the map built in already, so navigating shouldn't be too difficult. If you have your own client, we have GMCP available. Soon, our custom client is coming out of beta and it's baked in there, too. And has a handy newbie feature/guide/thing.
Which ... if you're interested, may allow you early access so you can beta that function for us. Being completely new to this and all. Unless that's now folded into the web client too. I haven't looked yet. It's an extremely new feature.
Anyway, there's two ways out, and how you get out is up to you, though I'd suggest you use the south exit, and east through the river into the Wood of Lost Souls when you do actually leave. North of that is Miruvhor, which is one of the three major cities of Aabahran. From there, you can take the City Gates to Maelbrim. Which I believe you've picked up a quest titled Been charged with finding your guild in Maelbrim and so you can continue the newbie quest from there. If you're an adventurer, you can use any guild to complete this. Otherwise, you will have to find your class' guild.
If by chance you do not have a map of Maelbrim, you should be able to purchase one from the vendor 1w1s from the Forum.
Now's a good time as any to say that we've got an explore system set up in game.
As for where you should go, on the Wiki, we have a ranking list, areas to which is recommended (but not required) to go to for level appropriate mobs to level your character.
Okay... I just didn't see any signs for the city gates on the map, so I was a bit confused (and I didn't know how to get out)
I'd love to be a beta tester, what do I need to do? ᔦ°꒳°ᔨ̖́
This feature is on the Web Client. No download or anything needed.
Feedback on this would be appreciated.
Why is there a countdown next to the mount status?(I had this question a few days ago but forgot to ask. Does it mean the horse will die?)I want to buy a new horse(The first free horse just disappeared without a trace) but the system says I lack control. Where can I train my riding skills?

First, there isn't a riding skill. The closest thing here is mounted combat and only paladins get that. This skill does things like make it harder for you to be bashed or your victim's ability to parry. You will need to be mounted for this skill to have effect.
Second, the mounts you purchase (really you're renting them) from the stables in town last for only a short period of time and you can't otherwise interact with them other than (dis)mounting. They can't be attack or be attacked by anyone. They can't die. Their sole purpose is to grant you move reduction and offer a slight boost to your move gain when standing. When the timer expires, you'll see the message Your mount departs leaving you on foot. You will then need to purchase another. You can purchase another before the timer expires, and it will refresh the timer. You can either give the stablemaster the specific amount of gold you wish to spend, or simply say the name of the mount you wish to purchase and the gold will automatically be removed. The only difference between most of these mounts are the duration in which you have them for. Though there are special ones out there. For example large races (trolls, ogres, giants, etc) can only ride on large mounts like the elephant. Other mounts can fly, allowing you to cross terrain such as swim (dark blue) rooms when you'd normally need a boat, or air rooms. They will not protect you from trip unlike the fly spell, however.
The Royal Stables
Strong smell of hay and horse manure assails your nose as you enter the
huge stables. Row upon row of stalls are all filled with various mounts
from lowly asses to mighty warhorses. A single enormous stall has been
devoted to what seems to be an elephant.
[Exits: east]
A large sign has been hanged on the stable wall.
A demon formed of icy vapors drifts here.
The Royal Stablemaster stands here beaming with pride.
The Stablemaster says 'Greetings Dalkon. Welcome to the Val Miran Stables!'
The Stablemaster gestures at the sign.
The Stablemaster says 'Those are our current rates, please look at them and let me know what you wish.'
l sign
ROYAL STABLE RATES
MOUNT COST
Mule 100
Pony 200
Stallion 500
Charger 1000
Elephant 2000
The third is that some pets, usually cabal pets, can be mounted. Those pets are actual charmies that follow you around, can attack and be attacked by people, and don't disappear after a time.
