I'm quite sure when the IMMs put this wand in they intended it to be abused for low-level PK.

Yep. Needs to me addressed. That entire area has a lot of EQ/items that are needing addressed. I am sure its on the list.

I thought that wand required level 30?

This has been brought up on more than one occasion.  I haven't posted to prayer/bugs though, so take from that what you will.  You can easily prevent qthings from abusing it by raising the level of the wand from 25 to 31.  Alternately, raise the level to 45 to match, or lower the spell to 25, again to match.  Using the wand is fine, but using a L45 spell in L25+ PK is a bit extreme.

As Trick said though, it's on the list (like all other areas) to be changed.  I think this particular instance should take a bit of priority.

Aely was level 22.  Teshix was obviously level 25 at least.

A couple of unsancd fireballs with that level difference and probably no saves would of caused the same outcome and almost as fast too.

That wimpy is so OP..

Seems apparent that wimpy was not turned on in this pk. (Probably would have saved Aely)

Very few things piss me off more in this game than multiple failed flees.

Back on topic, yah I don't see how a lvl 25 should get to cast lvl 45 spells...

I was about to say it couldn't cast above the level of the holder, but it would be clearly wrong. It did 118 & 114 damage , which is in the range of the old L45 Icicle spell and out of the damage range of a L30 Icicle. Then again it could a heavy level handicap showing it's head.

Still aelyhuen had ways to fight this, the most basic being getting this wand for himself.

Frankly, I don't think making the wand level L45 is a good idea. It will just make no one use the wand. And frankly there are to few offensive wands that has a PK use.

Mercury wand of L45 Icicle.

Wand of wind of L45 Hurricane.

Orbiting storms spike of L50 Icestorm.

I think a most interesting idea would be for wands zap code to have a max level equals to the zapper level plus it's level divided by 5.

Wand max cast level = Level + ( Level /5 )

This means that at L30 you would be casting at most L36 spells.

At L25 at the max of L30.

At L20, at the max of L24.

At L40, at the max of L48, which is interesting as you approach Pinnacle PK range.

At L50, at the max of L60, if a wand ever was implemented that casts L60 spells. Best I have seen is stave with L56 cause critical (which sucks).

In practice the only impact would be the Icicle wand casting at +6 levels for L30 Quest applicants.

All other wands would be already protected by the wand spell level.

Example of a useless wand in the game:

Weight is 1, value is 7873, level is 35.

Has 10 charges of level 35 'flame arrow'.

Atm we only have 2 active PK ranges. L30 and L50.

It can't be used by a L30 and for a L40+ it's useless due to added saves from casting level disadvantage.

This is very clearly an oversight. Things like these should be brought to Prayer / Bug Forum immediately upon being found out. How do you expect the IMM staff to know if we're just now seeing it in a PK log?

For the record, this isn't the first PK log that shows one low level stomping another low level with that wand.  Nor is it the first time it's been talked about to/with the staff.  It just wasn't posted in the proper channels.

Since it was an oversight...

Honestly the advantage of the wand is you can zap twice a round. At level 30 the harm and flamestrike wands work just as well.

I honestly thought it was known that these wands existed as they where. I was pretty vocal about the power they give to any app hopeful

I’ve failed 25 flee attempts vs  a mob before. I was with Phan as Grehg when grehg and phan got along

To be fair, does spell level do anything besides make it harder to save vs? I didn't know damage scaled with level (I've definitely hit obliterates as a level 20 invoker) seems like there where just alot of unsanced failed saves. I fought an ogre with this same wand and they didn't take oblits. The log is in pk sections from their pov
