Delving Deeper into the Dark Wood

  As you make your way deeper into Elium Forest, the trees seem to darken

in appearance - almost seeming to signify their age and strength.  Not quite

as broad and thick as those to the north, but larger and thicker than those

to the south.  The sounds grow much louder the further inside the forest you

travel.

still have to duck under an errant branch.

Square of the Fallen

  You have arrived at the rebuild Northern Square, a hush lying over the

whole area.  A memorial of the fallen has been constructed in the midst of

the square, dented shields and armor, forged together with broken weapons

artfully creating an overlarge kneeling figure: a warrior or fighter, his

head raised to the heavens, an unbroken, overlarge sword grasped in his huge

hand and rammed into the ground before him. A small plaque is fastened to

the dias of the statue, saying: In Memory of the Fallen Defenders of Val

Miran.  May their sacrifice never be forgotten.  A line of gleaming shields

line the rim of the square, fastened to white marble blocks.  Each displays

a coat of arms, many of them the Knightly sigil, some that of the Righteous

Palm.

You know he is going to bring a magic weapon, most likely ice. Try the hair from the elemental canyon, it will massively increase your vs magic AC. I know what the cowl does, but the hair is non rare, keep it in a bag just to try.

Protection from evil: magenta potion; Dragon Tower; Holy Draconian

Protection from good: tribal marked potion; Kashangal; Kashangra

Protection (general [vs evil if good, etc]): hardened tablet of acid (pill); Elemental Canyon; gremlin

Not counting things like scrolls or equipment.

One thing that stood out to me is weapon choice. While I am aware the benefits of Fire Giant with Fire weapon, would a physical dam weapon not be better suited against an elf? I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on that.

I think at about the midway point you should have been looking at testing other weapon setups. Even if bardiche is the basis of the build, sometimes you have to get a little outside the box. Even landing 10% more hits, across a fight that long, maybe axe shield or flail shield would have paid off. I know that as a fury zerk I was using a polearm constantly, but towards the end once I got a grip on the class I was using mace shield and dual mace flail. They worked quite well

But they do have magical resistance. Does that not cover fire damage? If not, please clarify the differences.

Elves are not resistant to magic. They are resistant to charm.

They do not have magic resistance in the sense of dwarves and halflings.

So fire weapon is best indeed.

I believe it's the charm spell, specifically.

Generally, they do not have a resistance to anything usable against them right now, afaik.

Elves are resistant to charm which most importantly is the sleep spell.

I ask because unminding would trigger the "you reduce their resistance" message and they always seemed harder to dispel, and took less damage form mental blast.
