I utterly hate this command. I also hate that someone can ignore you, talk smack, then ignore you again. It hurts RP, it hurts conflict based character development. I also don't know about anyone else, I always felt it came across as insulting on a player level barring some rare circumstances.
Get rid of ignore
No.
Having someone talking smack to you, in bad grammar and spelling, is distracting and annoying.
also having people spam garbage at you is even more annoying. Or start cussing you out. If someone abuses the ignore command, they will be reprimanded. Report it, and a log, and it will be dealt with by the staff.
The ignore command serves a very specific and needed function. It should not be removed.
Also, it's perhaps worth considering whether you are not the one to blame for the ignore being used on you ![]()
It's also an RP command? Those of blind faith and utter hatred refusing to listen to the weak ramblings of their enemies!
Just my two cents but... I think if it comes to a point you need to /ignore someone because of flame it is IMM summon time anyway. It's not hard to RP the fact you don't want to talk to someone but flame ignores are just silly.
Except that an immortal isn't always online? Why should I have to quit out because some one has let their emotions get the best of them? Ignore isn't just for me, it's to prevent the other player from making a horrible mistake in game. I typically let peoples anger subside before trying to continue a conversation.
Let's not forget that abusing the ignore command is already punishable in game, even if not so much as the loss of potential RP points. Either way you look at it, it comes down to either Imm's having to intervene when angry talk borders OOC crap, or immortals having to intervene when ignore is being abused. At least the latter allows the player maintaining RP to remove themselves from the OOC experience.
On a side note, just put Maple Syrup in my coffee. Fucking fantastic.
I don't want to hear that.
"Ignore Iyorvin"
That's better...
It's not hard to RP the fact you don't want to talk to someone but flame ignores are just silly. I am curious to hear how you RP not wanting to talk to someone, without ignoring him.

reply I'm not in the mood to talk.
reply I'm busy.
reply Perhaps we can talk at another time.
reply If you talk to me again, I'm going to find you, rip your heart out and chop it into pieces so fine that the healers will take decades figuring out where to start.
The list goes on and on.
I am not in the mood to talk.
Lol.
Hey, I liked the last one of Serinkane's. Was actually kinda clever...
I love the ignore command. It is most excellent. So is the deaf command. You want to bother me? Get in the same room as me you bunch of pansies.
I don't see how it's abused. You can't talk to someone you're ignoring and if someone is just toggling on and off you can just ignore them.
What if I want interaction? What if I want to roleplay with the offending party(ies)?

The Philosopher Mick Jagger said, "You can't always get what you want"
On the flip side, he also said, "If you try...you get what you need".
Trust me, if you get in the same room as me and continue talking, I'll quit out faster than if f0xx was coming to PK me. One person's RP is not always compatible with another's and it all comes down to context. Playing out scenarios to find one that fits doesn't change the overall spirit of the command. If my character is not in the mood, ignore and/or deaf will come on. These commands work with tell, but not say.

Well said.
It also comes down to execution. I lot of people are so "forceful" when it comes "their RP", that it makes me never want to hear it.
I hate agreeing with f0xx, but the ignore command is something that is useful. For all the reasons of people sending nonsense over tells (above) and, IMHO the biggest reason, you can find out when someone is asleep or not in a PK if they aren't ignoring you. That's not RP? Really? It's a pretty minor matter to couch some kind of 'RP' tell when you're chasing or being chased to find out how safe you are at them moment.
