Racial restrings

So, minor random idea: rather than have you start as a base race and apply for the restring, add a line to character creation asking if you want to restring, and if so you input the 5 letters you'd use for your restring and that's what shows up on the who list from creation onward. Applications would still be expected at the same time as your dcheck request, but it'd remove the somewhat ridiculous period where everyone for some reason thinks my gremlin is a halfling or what-have-you. Long-term, it'd be less imm work also, I'd think... approve;approve and you're done.

Unfortunately I could see that as being abused by some people. There would be some people who would rename themselves inappropriately. Now if say it was only shown to Imms before it was approved in the dcheck that'd be more tolerable. You could tack on a brief description of what it meant if it was too vague and why, then you'd never even have to write up a application for it. It'd just be approved or denied and if denied you could apply for it or ask in Prayer why it was denied.

shrugs Some people name their characters improperly too, but that doesn't mean we don't let people create their own names. An IMM would still have to approve your app and your desc, they'd be able to see if you restrung yourself something inappropriate then just as they would an inappropriate name. I see little difference between the two situations.

I very much like this idea!!!

I like this idea too. Alot.

I like it because it changes the logistics of getting a race restring to be more beneficial to players.

Instead of being frozen, waiting until your approved. You progress, with pending approval. We still get the same checks and balances, but the wait is no longer a detriment to play.
