Descriptions

I suggest moving the rank for description approval from level 15 to level 25 for many reasons. When immortals are not around for days or simply overlook someones dcheck most classes cannot train or do much. If the level was increased to say 20 or 25 more people would have some things to train while waiting for the approval.

For instance. I've rolled a new character who has had a description since level 1 and sent for a dcheck. I am now level 15 and cannot do much, but simply wait for an immortal.

In my opinion, 15 is a good level for approvals.. With all due respect, Ghrundor, there really isn't a time when days go by with no Immortal on.. If your dcheck isn't being approved, usually it has a very good reason.

Description is a huge huge obstacle especially for those who have never played MUDs before.

I havn't had to much trouble lately because my play time has been ideal, but I will say this.

Your right there isn't a time when days go by, but to get to 15 can take as little as 30 Minutes for a Vet.

Making it 20-25 is a good ideas because.

It gives more time to level before being stopped by a level block (ie dcheck)

20-25 is a usualy training lvl for a good number of classes, so when/if stuck they have something do activly do.

I have played alot of chars over alot of years, and 30 minutes to get to 15 is a serious serious stretch. unless you have a rocking melee group and your an evil human adventurer with the adventurer perk.

I've played a long time too, and it is not a strech unless your playing a mage...

I'm not sure what you are saying, it takes me 30 seconds to get my description put in...

I spend way more then 30 minutes on my descriptions. I also do my descriptions before I create my charactor.

Maybe not everyone wants dragons considering there are numerous items of equipment which are way better than a random breath or lightning bolt.

It isn't about getting the dragon, it's about writing a description that is elaborate enough for people to get an accurate picture of your toon as well as short enough to not be obnoxious. I generally write my description as I hunt and your time spent fixing it in limbo would count as time getting ready for dcheck. I've never had any issues waiting at 15 for a description check and feel it is important to get it done early.

As I said, mine is always done PRIOR to charactor creation. just because I have issues with grammer and word placement and tend to need help in limbo doesn't mean I dont take alot of time on my description.

EDIT: Just a clarification : By Limbo, I mean summoned to Description Lands by an Immortal.

I know, my friend. I didn't mean to suggest you didn't care, only that being careful is important and time spent working on it is time spent getting ready.

Uh. As far as I'm concerned, getting a dragon or another of the owner only items (I once got a fire dragon renamed to a firefly, also got gloves ones, I think) is something I appreciate a lot even though there are tons of better equipment for that particular slot. It means that I wrote something that was good enough for another person to reward it. It makes me all warm and happy because I typically put in a lot of effort into writing my descriptions, and it's a good feeling when that effort is recognized.

exactly, Vinter. Its an OOC thing not to care about the dragon. I mean in my head I couldnt fathom you not wanting this awesome dragon floating beside you. I usually name them as well and give it a backstory...even from the start it really helps flesh out an aspect of your char.
