Class Guru List.

I've been mulling it over in my head for awhile. Wanted to know what everyone thought about this.

I realize that the prayer forums are a great place to get advice about PK fights etc. But sometimes the Imms will refer to a player about the ins and outs of a certain class.

Perhaps we could have a list of people that could be PM'd about certain match-ups etc with a class.

Like for example I know Foxx is considered to be a great BLM player.

And I've heard through the grapevine that Jibber plays a mean Zerker.

Something like this could take some of the load off the Imms and give new players a foot up about the PK aspect of the game above and beyond the essay section.

With Liadon's current thread, I was starting to wonder whether this is not something we need to implement.

I firmly believe that a newbie should be helped in any ways possible, and she deserves such help without revealing what she plays, as she had to do so that people could help her. I am vouching for such list to be made, not only for newbies to get tips on their combos, but also so they can receive more general PK advices.

I.e. I play zerker so I will message jibber/nekky because they are good with them.

But there is a necromancer player that is giving me troubles, so I will message Mindflayer because he is good with necromancers and knows best which their weak sides are.

So, I will now create a list of my own, with classes and players who've managed to make me an impression that they are good with their combos, and since it's a list of my own, I don't care about how good you think you are with certain class and why aren't you listed as a "guru".

Warrior - Tassinvegeta, Mindflayer, Anume, Zhokril.

Ranger - Zhokril

Battlemage - Jibber, Hit&Run, Mya, The Forsaken

Necromancer - Mindflayer

Thief - Mindflayer, Reccum (Mister_E), the_nightmare, Deykari, The Forsaken

Healer - Mindflayer, HouselessRogue, Jibber

Dark Knight - Hit&Run, Tassinvegeta, mmajunkie (Zrothum)

Ninja - Reccum (Mister_E), the_nightmare

Shaman - Twinblades, Kyzarius

Paladin - Jibber, Deykari, The Forsaken

Invoker - Evangelion (Balinor), The_namesless (emp_newb)

Monk - Khaede, The Forsaken

Cleric - Mya, Kyzarius

Blademaster - Sarcon (I don't know if he is still around), EyeSeeU (ditto), f0xx

Berserker - Jibber, Nekky

Druid- Aulian

Vampire - Totenknopf, Anume

Crusader - Tassinvegeta

Lich -

Psi - The-Nameless (Emp_newb), Mudder (not sure if he is around)

Some classes have only one person against them and my idea is each one to have at least 3 (active) people on the list. Please suggest more. I take suggestion only if they are about people other than yourselves.

That's a pretty cool suggestion. Wish I had the knowledge to be considered a guru.

yeah... me too

Are these guru's made at Imm's suggestion, or do we just step up?

This doesn't apply to me, as I am not a guru at any class. However, I think I could explain certain standard RPs pretty decently.

I was thinking along the lines of Foxx (sorry man, you're my base example here) making a post and saying "Hey guys, I'll help whoever wants help with BLM's etc."

I also had the idea of a category for evil/neutral/good RP. Someone to bounce ideas off of in that department. Also maybe a person who REALLY knows everything everywhere who can go "Hey you want to know where caranduin is? Best thing is go wander around southern forsaken lands, it's kind by the distant mirage, use some exit commands, it really helps."

I'm not trying to push out the "You want to know it? Harden up and learn it princess." thing, but I think someone who is past the stage of newbie and below the stage of intermediate could use a little more guidance than is sometimes available to them.

Edit: And atticus? How many ninjas have you played? How many of your ninjas are successful in a cabal and have a cool title and are one of the major presences in the lands? This is far more than I have ever achieved. I would say that you would be great at teaching little ninjas what they need to do.

Insipid? How many characters have you played? What's your favorite? Etc. I'm not talking someone who has the reflexes of PK gods here guys, I'm talking the people who KNOW the class. Who know that maxxing fletchery is a KEY to an archer ranger. Who know that when fighting AGAINST said archery ranger missile invuln scrolls are your friend and maybe you should look HERE for them.

I've played a ton. My favorites are ninja/thief/zerk. My favorite cabal will always be warmaster. I think I'm decent with a thief and I fully understand the mechanics but there are far better thief pk gods on the game

I've only played one thief, but I'd say I am pretty nasty at the class.

Though I've played atleast thirty evil clerics and ogre rangers.

I remember your evil cleric, Nekromna. Human evil cleric I think? You killed my very first character that eventually made it to pinn, somewhere around the 20s.

Don't know why I remember that.

Dey

I still suck at pk but my best classes are prolly paladins/clerics.

Thief- Mindflayer

Necro- Mindflayer

Zerk- Nekky

Paladin- Dey

Blm- Eyeseeu

Monk- Khaede

Vamp- Virigoth. :3 Or Totenkopf

Invoker- Nameless

Warrior- Tassin (Venom bash )

All I can think of right now... those are my picks.

Vamp- Virigoth. :3 Or Totenkopf

.

Both were very good with vamps. However, there is one player that I feel trumps them both in the vampire category. Only one person ever played vampires that made me piss my pants, log off and stay logged off for a week....

Talimee.

I tried to pick people who would have a chance of being around. ;D Talimee is like a ghost! Here in spirit, but otherwise pretty unreachable.

I've got a pretty solid grasp on paladins (in particular elf paladins), and would be happy to give advice to anyone looking.

I say we allow the Immortals to pick, if something like this were ever to occur. They're the ones who watch us and know who knows their stuff and have watched us in countless PK's, and RP sessions. In any regard, my pluses:

Battlemages and Berserkers

Spirit, and flesh, and blood, and active forum member  Zips his lips

And by the way, I'm pretty much the guru on everything! Feel free to paypal me for responses.

When it comes to PK, I am pretty sure immortals know which classes we are good at.

But when such a "guru" is picked, if decided to implement this suggestion, not only one's ability to play the class should be considered, but his desire to teach others too. I've asked some very competent people for advices about classes which they've played successfully, and while 90% of the time I've gotten very rich and helpful replies, there are those 10% who either ignore me or are so vague in their replies that it's not much of a help anyway.

If we are to have gurus, those gurus are to be people who are willing to share the knowledge they've spent years gathering. Some here are not.

Just my 2c.

Other than that good idea. An ego boost is always welcome

Viri trumps all in the vamp category IMHO. His vamps weren't exactly normal. They trounced my otherwise untouchable characters though.

I dunno why, but Messalantha never exactly struck fear into me. Don't think I ever actually killed them but I gave them a whoopin on some slith warriors.

I liked Messalantha, she helped me a lot.Not only that she was good Pk'er but would also always listen to you and wasn't bloodthirsty.

Messalantha will always be my favorite. The rp was awesome she wasn't just a pk machine.

Well, I wouldn't ask Atticus for ninja advice. No offense to him, but I think Teralis, or Celerity would be a better choice.

Mindflayer is knowledgeable about almost every class, really. he's helped me with quite a few different classes.
