How about the immortals interact a bit more with their said clan/cabal. Maybe respond more often, because some do not even respond at all.
Immortal interaction
Noooooooo don't make Volg interact more with me :~(
Volg is fun and interacts, I'm not talking about him and I am not going to name names, but come on now. Certain cabals are lacking members and what not. Lets try to push some people in.
Actually, the cabal that lacks members most at the moment is Nexus, so I don't see your point really ![]()
And Syndicate
Oh yes, where is that old beggar, man he was good ![]()
I'm just saying when me or others in my organization attempt to speak to our superior they do not even respond... and that is when and IF they came around.
Other Immortals usually look after a cabal when the Imm of that cabal goes active. In this case, it's usually Anume. Where is she anyway?
Lately, it's been Erana and Volgathras, though. Love those two ![]()
Anume is on "holiday" from what I hear. Hope she comes back SOON.
How do people become Immortals? Can any of the more experienced players become Immortal?
I'm sure there's a whole process.
No, the immortals are the game moderators. You cannot just become one.
No I know "you" cannot JUST become one. I'm assuming you'd have to learn about all sorts to codes.
By no means am I vouching to be an Imm but I've learned HTML, XTML, and BBC so I have a good idea what it'd take to go into coding, a place like this simply daunts me but it's not something so foreign it cannot be taught or learned unprofessionally (meaning college).
Hell, I had a friend that went to a coding chat site that allowed users to eff with one another computers. Not sure how it happened but still...
It has happened in the past that players have been offered a chance as Immortals. By no means is it something you can ask for, or something that is remotely likely to happen. But it is the reward for years of good effort as a player.
And most of the code is in C#. BBC, XTML and HTML have nothing to do with how everything is portrayed, unfortunately. C# is still easy to learn and fun in the long run ![]()
Oh well still...
I know a couple people I'd totally suggest to be Imms.
Build an Area. This is normally how it starts in most muds.
where can I go to make my own area? are there like... blank "sheets" I can use to build such a place? This sounds like fun.
Use a pencil and paper to map out your area and how the rooms connect. Give each room a number and use any word processor to write all your room descriptions. You would probably need to consult someone with more experience here about what kind of mobs and items would be found in your area, but don't let that stop you from designing the area itself.
Somewhere on this forum there is a list of stock areas that the staff wants to replace. Find it and use that information to come up with an area that makes RP sense. Also consider where in the world the area is located and what it should be for. Is it a town, or a place where people go to hunt, etc...
Re Ghrundor: Remember that cabal duties are but one of many responsibilities an immortal has as an administrator. These responsibilities grow as the imm in question rises in 'rank' or 'trust' (Currently, I believe I'm in charge of cleaning Zhokril's toilet, if I remember correctly - just to name one). Some of these duties take precedent. Further, play times are also a consideration.
In the event that a particular immortal requests a leave of absence, other immortals take up their duties. If you're not getting a response from a particular immortal, send your notes to 'immortal' to ensure that the proper authority reads it (don't worry about spamming us, it's part of the job).
Re Liadon: The process of becoming an immortal is a long and grueling process, requiring years of stringent training both mental and physical. You have to be 'vetted' by the appropriate sources, acquire the appropriate degrees, and spend time as an intern with a reputable firm. After that, you're given the chance to find and complete what we administrators like to call the "Super Secret Level" - discussing which could lead to being 'purged' (often with the help of government organizations).
......honestly though, it's an honor granted to those whom the current immortals (Anume and Zhokril specifically) feel could bring more to the game than the copious amounts they already have through access to moderator tools. It takes time, dedication, and a fair amount of luck. If you are interested in becoming an immortal, do what you can to help the game grow in whatever way you can. If someone feels they are ready, they are welcome to post a proposal in prayer, though this does not mean - by any stretch of the imagination - that you will be hired.
hmms... well im interested for sure. Going to college for four years and then waiting for an opportunity to become something has been long and irritating. I might redirect my focus to actually LEARNING the game and HOW it's played rather than just playing to learn it. I'll start doing some heavy research on MUDing, the type of people interested in it, and seeing if I can't apply what I've learned at a payed institution. Being on the Deans list has to pay off somewhere even if it's just in a fantasy setting doing a hobby.
Out of all the addictions I've had (non-drug) this one has inflicted me the most. I'm always thinking about this place, and those in it. I love the environment, the sense of importance some of you have makes me giggles, but that goes with ANY environment.
As for the Immortals themselves. Looking at it from a business perspective you all could stand to be paid for doing this (not like I wanna be charged to MUD but I think at this point I would pay it to play) because EVERYTHING is set up to gain new members and KEEP them. Which customer return in todays society (even in the finicky world of entertainment) is SUPER important.
I'm impressed that everything is put together so well and works like a very... well just to cut it short EVERYTHING is put together so professionally! From how the world is set up, to how the bugs are handled to how the Imms keep a clean public display despite what some of our local tards say to offend them.
As a professional, whether it means anything or not coming from some shmuck (newbie) like me, this is a place worth loving and being addicted too.
Someday I hope I can contribute more than just suggestions, good RP, and moderate PK. I want to make this place grow and flourish.
I love you guys,
Liadon.
PS: sorry for continually repeating myself but I've never had so much fun online until now...
