New Race

Ethrian

For thousands of years, the masses of Aabahran have toiled endlessly to reach previously unattainable heights of power. Few have succeeded, and the rest have failed. For the most part, these individuals were thought to have disappeared, instantly vaporized in an attempt to call upon more arcane might than they could handle.

However, the emergence of an ephemeral whisper has laid proof to the stories that the men and women who had disappeared were not gone forever. With the shaking of the world by the once-dormant Volcano's eruption, the barriers between dimensions were temporarily loosened, and the seekers of power have emerged from other realms to once again traverse Aabahran's soil. These beings have changed however, and they are not as they once were. Transformed by their otherworldly experiences, the Ethrians, as they are called, are no longer corporeal beings, but rather ethereal beings. Doomed to an existence of perpetual planar shifting, these beings are solidly resigned to living out their woes, mere shades of what they once were.

Special Abilities: Automastery in Pass Door, Blur, and Ethereal Passage. Automatic Blur. Racial alignment based ability -

Planar Shift

Ethrians of all kinds are able to shift their bodies in some capacity, based on their surroundings. Good Ethrians are capable of disappearing during the day, surrounding their incorporeal form with rays of light. Evil Ethrians can disappear at night, dissolving into the shadows. Neutral Ethrians are capable of disappearing at any time of day, but for a shorter period of time than their more pure cousins.

EXP Penalty: 350 exp

Stats: Str - 16, Int - 24, Wis - 24, Dex - 21, Con - 18

Alignments: Any

Classes: Warrior, Ranger, Blademaster, Monk, Invoker, Battlemage, Necromancer, Bard, Cleric, Healer*, Shaman*, Druid*, Chaos Mage**

Druid with pass door and another defense.. drool

Stats: Str - 16, Int - 24, Wis - 24, Dex - 21, Con - 18?

That's like, 2 more str and con than a Faerie, and X more wis at the cost of 2 dex and 1 int. They're also 150xp lower than a faerie, and have automatic blur? I'd trade in autosneak and autoflight for that. Imagine an Ethrian Invoker. Or Druid. Or Necro. Or Cleric. Or Shaman. That would be sick.

P.S - Love how you put 'Chaos Mage' in as a viable class option.

Lol yeah I thought that was quite a nice touch

In retrospect the stats are a little high.

And I didn't want to limit ideas as far as class selection.

However, they would also have a vulnerability to physical attacks (sharpmetal and the like included).

A vulnerability to physical attacks?

Ouch.

yeah id say thats a really good balancer

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

I don't.

It certaintly makes the idea of an Invoker more viable, unless you give them a fourth magical shield, Physical Shield.

Dey

nah I was serious. Would be a good balancer.

Eh, I think FL has enough Races currently. What can't be done with restrings and lots and lots of RP and apps?

A rabid 27 year old robot named Percy with webbed feet, laser eye-beams and a penchant for storing thousands of ballpoint pens in his trusty burlap sack?

Dey

Don't give him any ideas, you idiot.

sighs and makes a mental note to hack the server and "badname Percy".

I did that already...back before you were here. Ask around. Everyone knows about it. Yep, except I spelled it with an "i". Yea, Perci.

Don't question it.

I do recall stumbling in onto about 60 corpses named Perci... and I do recall Crypt was in a bad mood that day...

would be a great bmg race!

I like it.

would be a great bmg race!

I disagree. The MAJOR advantage a bmage has is physical resistance, with a physical vuln it will not make a battlemages life easy in the least.

I'm not so certain... the vuln and resist would somewhat even out, and the increased damage from reflective shield would make using a phys weapon against one of these risky.

Automatic Blur though? I think people are underestimating just how powerful a perk that is.
