Seems I've got another go nowhere char to add to the long list I've racked up over the years. I am tired of my nontraditional race/class picks that only bring me headaches so I'm asking for your thoughts on cookie cutter combos that you see all the time.
I'm thinking drow cleric, ogre ranger, slith thief or avain ninja. Please add your comments and I'll get the old roller fired up this evening after maintenance.
Drow cleric - overpowered, you'll get no respect
Ogre ranger - If you go archery, I'll murder your first-born (see drow cleric)
Slith thief - I wouldn't do any rogues right now if I were you...
Avian ninja - (see Slith thief)
So, what does that leave you with.
Blademasters - New and hot hot hot!! Go for one of these.
Battlemages - The Old hotness, rock'em sock'em robots
Psionicst - Powerful. Why aren't there any at 50?
Crusader - Go for it, powerful, and almost non existant.
Fire warrior nexus - You will eat a vamp alive if you know what you're doing.
Non-rogue syndicate - Fun stuff right thurrr
Necro Savant - Fun, but don't expect to get anywhere in the cabal.
I could go on and on with awesome and totally easy to do combos...However, each time I do this...I roll 90351901095 million characters, rank them to 30, and start over...it tends to upset me. So much potential out there I don't know where to start...then I get something to 50 and just blow chunks or get impatient
Would love a sader or psi but I clearly don't have the patience for either of those. Savant has totally lost all my respect just today so I doubt I'll be making anything to go in there anytime soon. Not good enough at PK for syndicate. Don't really have the patience for any cabal so it'll be another loner I'm sure.

Being a member of a clan doesn't do anything negative, so why not just join and keep your fingers crossed. FG Nexus is so easy to PK with it's crazy. (Note: Vs certain combos it's fairly easy for a novice/average PKer to get schooled as well)

Play one before you judge. They were overtoned, then when Viri agreed and said he would go through them with me he ended up getting that stupid successful job!

Judging by how well the two illithid psis did, I'd say they were pretty beefy.
Invoker, as I stated some combos will, can own a novice/decent pker as a FG. However, with the right combination of skill and weapon choice, a fg will walk over an invoker.

I'm going to off the beaten path here, and suggest a monk.
Pros:
High power peak, even with crap equipment
Can do very well against almost any foe
Not a whole lot of them at 50
Don't have to worry about weapons; you have magical and physical weapons of the best quality! :-D
Cons:
Easy to get beat while you're getting the hang of the class
Lots of training: Stances, Weapons, Defenses, Anatomies... With the exception of weapons (which you don't technically NEED to master), you can do most of it while ranking, but at 50 you'll still have some mastering to do as far as anatomies go.
monks need good gear to own
Honestly I would suggest a slith or halfling blademaster, like Zrothum said they are new and hot. Some of the things they do just own. But also, don't train and you get put to shame. Or a battlemage, I have been trying to get myself to roll a mage for two years now. Blademasters, Blademasters, Blademasters. Sounds sexy, doesn't it?
Better names for Blademasters:
Kensai. Sensei. Boomstick-wielding Redneck.
