There are 16 religious shrines spread all through FL. I have found all but 5 of them and some seem to have no rhyme or reason as to their location while some make sense. I used to know all the locations but I have forgotten those few. How many of you know them all? How did you learn their locations? Are there clues anywhere to the locations? I always try to be guided by the religion I choose for a character and I try to throw in the shrine in my RP. So....how the hell do I find them all beyond resorting to asking people IG which I know is okay I am just trying to be as self-sufficient as possible.
Religious shrines
I think they all make sense. Well, so there is one that seems out of place.
I figured them out by religion=area/creature/roomdescription=search point.
Edit: Look at the room descriptions and creature descriptions, I could often narrow my search to a couple of key areas.
Once I found them I realized that Most of the sets can be completed very young. It used to matter for training purposes.
I know two or three. I found one by being slept, summoned, and murdered by a necromancer.

hahah, you're welcome?
Well, if that was you then you now know who I was (He is still around I just need to get better before I go back to him). That was embarrasing on my part.

Let's take Purity for instance since I know where that one is located. What about that area/creature/roomdescription points you to the shrine being located in the area?
The burial marker. The area was on my checklist, the burial marker made me bite and check every nook and cranny, partially because I knew there were nooks and crannies.
I know them all, they don't all make sense, I was lucky enough to learn of them all from another player IG many many years ago who took me to find them. I have since payed that forward and showed at least 5 people over the last few years where they all are.

So I went to the area. I assume you're talking about the headstone at the intersection. I looked at it, examined it, read the room description, went into the tomb and did all the same....nothing stood out to me that gave me a clue that something else, particularly a shrine would be near. I am just not good at riddles, never have been.

I know them all. Without giving answers here, as that's taboo:
You're right. Some are obvious as to their location, most make sense in a way (though Guile could be anywhere and make sense) and others don't directly, or at least to me anyway. At least you're not going to find Nature in the middle of a city or Purity on the Isle of Souls for example, so that's a plus.
I can definitely say that even if an area gets replaced, the shrine stays in the area. Might move a bit within the area, but they're still in the same area.
I have found them through pretty much every means possible. I have stumbled upon some accidentally. I have been shown where they are by some people (such as Tranquility, seemed like everyone used it while ranking all them years ago before it moved). Others have pointed me in the right direction or general area. I have gathered a few people or been gathered into a hunting party trying to find them. I have searched meticulously for them, room by room, trying to open in every direction. Without hints and being "as self-sufficient as possible," that's pretty much the route you're going to have to take, as we don't know which 5 you're missing.
Other than some of the "obvious if you think about it" shrines, there's no outward clue that I've seen. The doors are closed and hidden (meaning they won't show up on your exit list, exit prompt or exit command) and you could walk past them without realizing it. In fact, people walk by Faith all the time and they stand right next to Tranquility, literally one room over, if they do a certain other quest.
Rereading Fool_Hardy's post about creature/room descriptions, I can't verify. But I'm going to take a look around at some of them though. That would just be sneaky to put hints on them.
At least half of the shrines are within 3 zones of Maelbrim, so it's not like they're all exactly off the beaten trail. Some are grouped fairly close together. And again as Fool_Hardy said, most can be gathered while you're young.
Ok lets look a different direction. Look at Knowledge;
Combat = near a well known combatant
Mystic = near a well known mystic
Nature = near a known druid
Perhaps I mislead you into believing there are pointers, there are none that I know of, just instinct and diligence.
Yup. Those are three of the more obvious. You can add Neutrality to that list, too. I nearly bashed my head in when I found that one; I felt it was that obvious. Though I'm not entirely sure which druid you speak. Of the three immediately obvious (to me) druids, one is IN the shrine, the one everyone passes isn't by that shrine and the third is by a completely different shrine. I digress. Others such as Order and Cycle make a bit of sense, but Tranquility and Necropsy really don't make a whole lot of sense location wise. Guile could literally be anywhere and make sense, though.
Does Lloth have a temple?
No.
Near a well known druid - until I went "whe druid" in the area I didn't even realize it had a name and I can think of a lot more druids that get passed regularly that don't match
Near a well known combatant - Here are a couple that I can think of, Valcor and Nemhael.....and I've been playing a very very long time(with breaks)
Neutrality being obvious - neutral temples, rod of neutrality......thats all I got.
Maybe I'm just thick and can't figure out things that are blatant......I don't want the answers OOC, I'll ask in game once I figure out which one of my toons I want whoever I ask to know who plays I just wanted to know more if there was any patterns/hints/stuff like that.
Ah, he didn't say "well known druid," just "known." :cheese:
I did find Compassion and Neutrality(pretty obvious) since I opened this thread, so I'm down to 3. Greed, Guile, Combat. The quest continues!!!!!! I'm on a mission from god/gods, literally.
Oh, pleasant surprise with two of them, then. GL

I should fix that.
Using bless, war cry, or any other religion based skills should get a bonus for being done at the shrine.
Those that aren't bound by a faith or religion, atheist/agnostic religions, get this buff without needing to go to a special place since they can't get tattoos or anything fancy.
And Lloth has a shrine. Its not part of the quest though. Its in the Underdark.
EDIT:
Also, I suggested a while back that we incorporated another Temple to go to when you die or recall thats in Elderwood, Banor, Elium, or some wooded area near a city for the Watchers. Upon induction, you have the option to change your pit to that wooded shrine. I tried to create this on Hgurkei, my Watcher, with RP, notes, journals but I kinda let it die when I let my Watcher go.
After all, why would a die-hard Watcher knowingly utilize a temple constructed with everything he/she opposes?
