So ive been looking through the newbie stuff and i keep hearing about the underdark and im really not even sure what or where it is.. where can i go to atart figuring this out?
underdark
Go west from the fountain in Xymerria (the drow city, directions from Miruvhor: southwards till you find the shadow grove, there down in the very first room, then northwards till you see the fountain, then west). Also there are some aggressive things in the underdark, so be careful. If you are a drow/duergar/dwarf you can dig down, else you can only go down through Xymerria or another exit near the green dragon (south of the vampire tree west of Val). All other exits are up only for non-digging-races.
The Underdark is the best gift to drow and duergar in the history of ever.
It is also mine.
I do not share.
The wiki also has a map (it's a little confusing, but that is to be expected with how large the Underdark is, and how many layers it has)
Also, I highly suggest you practice navigating it. The information will be invaluable both as a Drow/Duergar for escaping easily, and as other races for learning to chase those races, and eventually learn to predict their movements.
The underdark is the most valuable piece of running/chasing you can learn in FL.

One of the safer options is taking a dwarven adventurer down there. They get both sanctuary and probe in addition to not having to worry about PK and you can dig back down to pick up where you left off. Most of the time.
You can also keep the wiki map open for a guide as you travel through so you can understand that better and get a reference for where you're going.
Have fun!
I really don't know the underdark well enough. Usually if someone I am fighting runs in there I think to myself "Well, better luck next time."
It's not just about chasing. You can go from Haon Dor to Marak in about as many steps as it would take you to cross Val Miran. Twenty five, to be exact. Or to a half a dozen other places in a fraction of the time you would normally take.
If you don't understand it well enough, I'd change that quickly. It should be one of the most useful areas you'll ever need or use, if nothing else than for traveling. You'll wish you had learned it long ago.
Edit: Minor typo correction
If you get eaten by something there, you know who to blame ![]()
The underdark is relatively safe. just be careful when you start opening up doors.
I'd suggest you learn the underdark, its not very hard at all to be fair and if you're careful there arent many dangers.
There isnt actually anything in the underdark you cannot kill alone at 50 if you are prepared too.

You solo'd the craw wurm?
I stand by my previous comments that mobs need to be made meaner....
L-A
I agree with the above statement 100%. With the increase in equipment and the insane amounts of suitable EQ. Places like Gear, Desolation, and Discord should require a group. I've soloed every part of this game. I know players that have done it countless times.
But, if you do make it to where it requires a group..can out PBase handle that?
I have killed the craw wyrm solo. Totally not worth it as those wings are level 5 fly :/
No one's killed the Gor'gorak yet ![]()

It's a trap!
Challenge accepted.
I'll laugh hard.
The craw wyrm is over rated. It isn't as bad as you think. I'd rather fight that solo then the lurker (which is also soloable)
the lurker (which is also soloable)
yeah..he's not really considered soloable to the average races.. I'm sure with enough time effort and santa's sleigh full of supplies a few classes can, but he is meant for a group.
