You can add to your notes I solo'ed the craw wyrm...probably needs a buff.
underdark
A psion can solo any mob in the game without question.
A vamp can solo pretty much any mob in the game reliably
An FG reaver staff warrior can most assuredly solo anything in the game
A Warmaster Ranger can solo any area in the game
A paladin can solo most of the mid to mid high level zones reliably
A healer is just cheating, and can solo any area in the game
Clerics of a certain religion can solo most any area
People who stock a certain potion can go pretty well anywhere
This is really just off the top of my head. FL needs some seriously hard quests, with gear equivilant to what is available now, just make it sweet sounding.
To be honest anyone can do it with a certain technique. I'd hate to see how long it'd take with a shaman - literally days
whats the best class to explore the underdark with?
Probably a Drow or Duergar Theif.
Probably a Drow or Duergar Theif.
I'd suggest a cleric or, better yet, adventurer instead as they get free sanctuary and a reliable recall. With the Adventurer, you won't have to worry about getting interrupted with PK, too.
I agree with the Drow and Duergar though, and add Dwarf to the mix. Any digging race, really, so you can get back down to continue where you left off.
Thieves can see inventory and hidden mobs. Which is very useful to explore an area.
Very true, and that is indeed useful information.
As the OP was about where it is and its function I went the explore route. Once you get that figured out, then you can go back and play with mobs and their inventory.
Additionally, adventurers get peek. Sure, it doesn't help with hidden mobs, but it does help with the inventory.
I'd also like to clear up, sanctary and recall is for clerics, adventurers get only sanctuary.
Bards.
Peek, Steel, buffs, cure serious, wand of sanctuary for the fights.
Dual wield + arrows. Damage songs.
Bards do very well vs npc's. As long as their AC is low or the bard has ~50 hitroll.
Not to speak of locate and Identify.
FG or Drow clerics of a certain religion also do well.
@ Nameless - If you think about it, there are probably 5-6 players here who can do said solo'ing...and only with specific combos. Savant BMG/Clerics could be added to your list too. I solo'd the lurker once, many years ago, with an avian stalker bmg and it took me a VERY long time. Probably 1.5 - 2 hours. Just because it can be done, does not mean it's easy! Few people are going to make it past that last gauntlet in Gear solo if it starts spitting out mechs repeatedly. It's not foolproof just because you've done it before. I imagine solo'ing gear must take at least a couple of hours. IMO, if you are that dedicated, more power to you! It doesn't mean the area needs to be beefed up. It means a knowledgeable player has a lot of time on their hands.

Amen.
Beefing up areas does make it more interesting for those who have already learned every knook and cranny, but doesn't help less developed/experienced players.
Creating NEW areas, (Props on the Gor'gorak) I think is the appropriate choice, and excellent job on that Staff. ![]()
