Simple issue, need a fix.

Ok guys, I know this is going to make some of you go 'WTF?' but I've read every essay umpteen million times and I have a problem I haven't been able to get over yet. And I would like some input other than 'spend time'.

How do I hone my reflexes? Is there a class I can roll to help me do this? I know what I'm doing, and I know what I want to do in most battles, but when it comes to actually doing it, it takes me a minute to adjust and I just can't keep up with the people I'm fighting, the second I get my first command in to change strategies on the fly it's like they've already adapted and are countering perfectly everytime. And by the time I throw up my second strategy I'm dead.

So is it really just a time thing or is there something I as a player can do to make this a smoother transition? I have sticky notes all over my desk for what to do in certain situation. And I have most of it memorized, I just can't get my reflexes down fast enough.

Don't overthink. If you want to chase fast for example, thinking about too many things will slow you down. Unless you are despiser or something. Try to simplify things, like if you are unsure what to do or if something seems wrong, flee, take a breather and check your affects, or whatever. I dunno

Use this checklist.

1. Do I have the Appropriate weapons for them?

2. Do I have all the buffs I can? If lacking 3 or more get out.

3. Do my spells end in the next 4 ticks. If so are they critical?

4. Are they out damaging me normally? If so use damage abilities over lag abilities.

5. What is my escape plan?

6. Where do they normally flee to?

7. Do I know their recall and do they know mine?

8. What is my backup plan?

If you fail 2 or more of these get out and fix them if you can. This list is very basic but its a start. Once you do it a few times you can do it in your head.

Go to the arena. There are several mobs in there that do different things. Try practicing against them on when the time to flee is, when you should be hitting them hard. Try to predict what they will do the next round and wait for them to do it before you enter a command. This helped me get some timing down with a class I had never played before and improved my ability to watch for certain things.

Thanks for the help guys. I just feel like I'm not getting better, I live longer, but to me that's just like saying 'Yeah, I almost dodged that bullet, instead of hitting me in the head it hit my lungs, dying slower FTW!'. Maybe I just need to stop caring about death so much and go nuts.

Ok, here is my advice. Play an ogre warrior, take it barbarian. Go neutral. I would go doublesheath. Now here is why:

As a warmaster, you are going to fight alot, a whole lot.

As a barb, you need to learn consumables

With doublesheath your going to be able to have more rare slots, so more weapons to expirement with what works and why.

Ogres have great hp, so you have more room to make mistakes and still recover, look at the log of Zugor vs Krognaut, you can see how much damage krognaut was able to take and still win the fight.

My next tip? Fight everyone I mean everyone. Healers, heralds tribbies allies enemies. EVERYONE.

Also, do not get atatched to armor, get atatched to a char. Their is a huge loss here when someone quits or deletes a char over a full loot. Sure you want to get good armor, but you dont want to rely on it. Learn to pk in crap. Do not have fear of Condeath. Everyone here has played chars all the way through while getting roffle stomped the whole time. I have condeathed a fire war, and a gnome invoker BOTH in under 200 hours

You are right. Sometimes you have to see the line between safe, and suicidal and run across it screaming wildly. Sometimes your not going to win a pk unless your willing to go out on a limb, and chase instead of flee.

I would also recommend exploring areas in depth. Learn all the little nooks and crannies you can hide in, and the alternate routes you can take to get there. I cannot tell you how much learning the underdark helps PK in both chasing, and running. I cannot tell you how many times I have lost someone using the underdark strictly because you can end up anywhere in the game (almost).

But really your going to find the shakes never fully go away (I kinda wish I got them more) I wish you the best luck.

Whenever a PK starts, think "Am I fully prepared for this fight?" If the answer is anything but an instantaneous "Yes", just flee and get the hell out of there. If the answer IS an instantaneous "Yes", you're probably going to win, so don't worry about it.

shrugs my pk strategy if I get jumped is basically:

Am I winning?

If yes continue on.

If no: Am I loosing badly?

If not loosing badly I generally wait and see what happens. You'd be surprised how often people think they have the jump then their sanc falls, or they fail conc on a couple of critical spells and the battle turns.

You obviously are not packing enough Consumables.

My advice, never ever fight a fight you did not start.

Recall, or run and hide.

Then think prepare and strike.

What class are we talking about, some classes have less options than others.

Not packing enough consumables? You mean still learning where all the good consumables are. I'm buffed to the hilt most the time whenever I enter a fight, I'm still working on the getting fast enough to get the hell out of there thing. I will say this, the skill level of the people I fight is so way beyond me that when they run I go....'Wait, I saw them, RIGHT THERE! Where the? There are only two exits out of this area. Wait a second.....oh crap, they have full HP, death.' When I run it goes something to the effect of 'I'm movin, I'm movin, oh crap, out of moves, out of moves, come on, one more room, ah crap, death'

While amusing, sometimes I just go W T F, and move on. Fortunately almost everyone that kills me/wins the challenge has been pretty cool and offered advice. I've only had three deaths that were truly upsetting, it's just a pain getting my reflexes fast enough, I don't know HOW you guys scan through rooms so fast, I scan and see all the mobs and everything and can't find nothin. Then bam, there you are. lol. and before I can open up, I get three rounded.

Hrmmm.. Learn one area you fight in the most.

I rely on where much more then** scanning** - and only scan once I've closed in on them by following them with where.

Eventually you'll know more and more of the lands and can close that gap down so your scanning is more effective.
