Highlighting Key Words

What do I need to look for in my client to highlight phrases or words. i.e. "so and so rubs the dirt out of their eyes" or "the white aura around your body fades"

In roaclient it's called "hilites"

look under the menu where you set macros and such.

in g-mud its called "wall hax"

I figured it out. Thanks.

i can't stand when people use stuff like this. If it's not built into the game it shouldn't be allowed. It's borderline cheating because it gives you an edge over other players.

It's built into nearly every client available, however. Considering each client, more or less, is free. It's completely fair, I think.

I hope there was a smile at the end of that Sandy:D . Because it's things like scripts that

help some people keep up with the typing experts. Now triggers and targetting alias I have a problem

with, but it's nothing I haven't been able to still do well with (without them I mean).

Something I don't do...(because it could backfire and wastes too much of a little precious time if I needed to turn it on) is use this trigger:

So and so crawls in. Output: murder soandso

EDIT: While I don't use highlighting or triggers in PK, I have many, many, many alias sets, which is why I love gmud.

i tried this client i cant seem to get the aliases to work.... it doesn't do anything when i type them just sits there..

I don't use em, so I can't help. Pali probably knows how though.

I just personally like typing it out. Not anything as long as murder xyweqchwvhliw illithid squid (god I hate those names). I do tend to sometimes type murder Plai or something sometimes when trying to off one of Pali's chars.

di is alot faster to type than c 'detect invis' lol. aliases are pretty much a necessity unfortunately.

Hmm, I'm not sure, if I should be or not but..

I have over 30 events set - do everything from highlights - to seeing a successful disarm and instantly sacing the weapon - that msg you get when you try to flee, and your not sure how many times to spam it; Mine, just rolls over in my event text till it pops me out of combat

about 15 alisas's give or take for each class - from Rp emote stuff, to spell/skill shortening. and stuff like @cont = place where i want my consumable to go in and out, and then whatever container I have it automatically distributes... and @target shared to my macros

eg. >target mob >press f12 and i >murder @target = murder mob - ohh alias murder right down to mu

Macros F1 - F12 keys and most of my num pad, for stuff like cam/hide/flee/cure - dirtkick/trip/bash and all my diff initiate combats.

and my cartographer sits on top of my client, logs every room I'm in and shows me the area and follows me as a cursor when I move...Makes being blind somewhat easier as long as you start moving from the right room, you can see on your map where you going..

9999 line log/screen scroll, and quicktypes from 2 chars input, and scroll back for commands

That being said, I never remember to fly, have a bag full of vials/herbs and forget to take them, Play drunk and otherwise impaired (ALL of the time), and all of it can't stop me from dying once stupidly and rage deleting over 250 hours...

I just like to roleplay really...

in cmud you just have to type

#ALIAS ras {raspberry}

If I am smarter than the other player, is that cheating too? Or if I type faster? It's not built in the game too.

Different clients offer different advantages. It is up to you to choose the one that suits you best i.e. that is most comfortable for you to use and gives you the greatest advantage.

That being said, I use triggers (highlighting, targeting, executables, tick timers) alliases, macros. I know as much as the average folk with a bit of common sense knows about programming and if I was able to set them, then everyone can.

When you say that your mud client is better than mine, I will ask what MORE does it offer than mine?

highlights are a smart tool.

try Wintin if your client fails you.

I don't use macros, aliases or triggers(ok i have ONE) but that doesn't mean I think they are cheating. Truth be told, we all have the same access to the same clients. It's not like someone has an unfair advantage from their client giving them GOD MODE or something.

And I've definitely seen triggers cost people fights, so it has to take some skill to set them up and not kill yourself.

I used to try to use wall hax type **** like that when I first started mudding on a client... I had used telnet for the first 5 years of my mudding life (pre-FL)... Now I type so fast that I rely solely on manual speed. It really doesn't give you any kind of advantage to use all kinds of triggers and whatnots... I don't know what highlighting is, but I don't want any part of it.

claiming that it doesnt give you an advantage is naive.

Triggers can be deadly, but some (get 1. wield 1. when disarmed for example) can be a life saver

**Alias' **are superb, and to say you can type c 'powerwordkill' grim_reefer faster than I Can type pwk grim_reefer is just making stuff up man.

Highlights can be a life saver, as you can have bad things come up in red. good things in green, as a simple example. When my sanc drops I get flashing red text not the soft grey that can easily be missed while running / chasing.

Lol, I tried mudding drunk once. Never again
