Ok. This has been said MANY MANY times. A god suit of rares is only a nice thing to have. you do NOT need a huge suit of uber rares to win. It does help yes. But you can lose just as easy in a god suit as you can in rings and mithril. There is NO replacement for training, and knowledge of the game. You CANNOT neglect training and expect to win, flat out. It just does not happen. So train before you gear, or you will not keep that gear.
RE: Maya
It does not matter if saves are 100+. All classes that cast mals, except necro, have spells to drop saves. You train those skills, use those skills
then you go about it just like you would if they where poorly armed. This plays back into my spat on training.

You have to have wit to have a witty remark. Perhaps it did not leave, perhaps it was just never there.
burn ._.
Pffftt hardly a burn when the person calling you out about wit is bloody emp_newb.
Hey don't pfffttt at me. I just calls 'em as I sees 'em.
I find the hole in the ring, the git amongst the pidgeons, the one who's three bobs short of a ten queer note, the turd in the hamper.Yeah, I know.
I agree with slight tone downs in EQ. Some sets are just too sick, they can nearly negate vulns compltely and make what would be an equal battle royally unbalanced.
I would like to see Invokers cast as rangers shoot with arrows.
"Target" spells could hit enemies in the line of view, decreasing in damage and getting easier to save against with each additional room.
For area spells there could be a an additional number inserted at the end of the spell and the mana cost would increase for each:
1- spell hits each room adjacent for 75% total damage
2- spell hits all rooms withtin a 2 room radius, 75% in adjacent rooms and 60% total damage in outside rooms.
you get where this is going, maybe have a 3 room radius max.
To negate the awesomeness of this ability, invokers would need to be gimped even more in melee, but to me that makes sense anyway.
and stone giants with boulder throw!
l
You are standing in the Central Commons of Rheydin... etc.
Someone's boulder throw beans you in the head! HOLY **** that hurt!
You are dazed and confused.
Nice shot!

It does matter.
The only regular class that drops Saves effectively is shamans.
All other classes that use Mals like Clerics, DK's,Necros are stuck with "Curse".
And "Curse" only takes 5 spell saves.
Battlemages who also depend of Mal's cannot even cast it.
And you don't need -100 saves, you just need 30 across the board as often said by the imms.
I found 100 to be pretty impenetrable.
I was cool with it.

Hrmm... I wasn't aware that Invokers had melee in any way, shape, or form. Unless of course, you consider a bash on the head by my staff every 5 rounds "melee". ![]()
Invokers usually have killer AC, the most defensive weapon as their primary weapon, a couple of other weapons, and can parry like nobody's business (as can anyone, but I feel that decent invokers will focus on maxing the parry variables as that is their only defense)...not to mention their blinding spell and negation of first strikes...
mostly they just lack any real melee offense...
TRAITOR!!!!
So I killed a couple of good Warmasters accidentally and got turned neutral for it... geez... ![]()
RE: Maya.
I said except necros. And dks have a VERY useful, though underused, spell to drop saves. Magic missile folks. Yea yea, sounds cheap, and it sucked in D&D. In the world of FL it can make that decked bmg alot less troublesome.
Necros are the exception becuase they can rely on melee output, unlike shamans, so giving them something to effectively drop saves is a bit overpowering.
I bet you are doing it on purpose you fuzzy wuzzy gopher.
But you are right, i forgot about Magic missile.
Still even -10 spell save will barely scratch someone with 30's across the board.
Imagine you are playing D&D with your friends and you managed to get 40 saves against spell.
And there comes a enemy mage and "curses" you and takes away 10 of those saves.
Then he casts a fire ball on you.
Are you going to difficulty saving the fireball knowing you have a D20 dice to make the save ?
PS: I find Magic Missile a great spell, at least in Neverwinter Nights.
Force damage means it goes throw spell absorption Globe thing.
-30 saves are not that awesome, you might land 1 in 3 mals true. But that is only 3 rounds of combat. If you are a shaman, you should be playing the hit and run anyway. If you are a DK, then you are also dishing out massive melee damage via malforms, frenzy, unholy strength, and a charmie. YOu also have access to cure light wounds, and there are a few other sources of cure spells. Bottom line is it all comes back to training and knowlede ![]()
When i read your last post It appears i am ready one of my own posts...
So make something clear from my posts.
-Saves values in D&D do are not the same as in FL, but the mechanics is similar. D&D values are smaller.
- 30 across the board, is not -30 saves versus spell. It is:
Spell : -30 | Afflictive : -30 | Maledictive: -30 | Mental : -30
This means -60 in total saves.
- This value (-60) means you are above max save cap, in most situations.
Taking a -10 penalty may or may not bring you bellow the max save cap.
-
Even with -100 saves, spells you will fail saves.
-
Even with +100 saves, spells will save spells.
-30 across the board is extremely hard to get. Extremely. At my peak as Daryghaz I was in prolly the best overall saves suit I ever had. and I had -35 spell saves, and ranging from 70 aff, to 20 mental. If you are fighting people with 60 saves total, you need to try different tactics because that isa stronger char you are up against.
