Actually, as I learned with Taeim versus Merista (WagesofSin's invoker), halflings can still take a LARGE amount of damage from afflictive spells, particularly those of an invoker with a fully charged staff.
Merista came very close to beating Taeim many, many times.
Cylandas actually DID beat me. He cheated, as drow are wont to do, but he did beat me.

I havent noticed a decrease in sermon land rate. The clerics I fight tend to land it after ever 3-4 times.
So it's just like any other mal now? 
Yeah, any mal that drains mana and stops you in your tracks for 5-10 seconds any time you don't save against it.
