Heh... I got lucky with Vhalen... a group took me to 19 within two hours of chargen. Didn't have to worry about whether or not to practice dodge.
Locked Monks are weak.
MAx STR first as a human monk.
That will allow you to have better hitroll and land hits.
Also you can get the +1 HR bracers at L1.
Anyone who refuses to practice certain skills for ease of training the more advanced ones later on is stuck in a phase I lovingly call, "Mid-newbie."
Mid-Newbie = Your not exactly a newbie anymore since you've begun to get the hang of the game. You aren't often caught unprepared but you also try too hard and use the right tactics, but at the wrong time. A defining trait of a mid-newbie is you tend to take the very long and hard road, because you don't know(or are afraid) to navigate the shortcuts.
Monks are very easy to train. Its the anatomies that are annoying.

All im going to say is its obvious Dey has never tried training second hand parry when dodge or first hand has been practiced.

PK record of 29/1 (24 of those kills, and one death, being at pinn, kept track of my record in notepad) with about 180 hours clocked at pinn. No joke.

Figure I haven't played a monk since I tinkered around on my buddy's monk many years ago...and with these new changes, I think it just might be worthwhile.
Dump what bit of free time i have for now into training...and then in a little while when I can actually play like I used to...go full-on with it. I'll even master beads, just for the heck of it.
I hate it when other people have the patience to train Monks. It makes me jealous.

I tried to train a monk once, I thought it would be easy untill I got to the weapons...its just brutal. One measly attack per round takes forever.

My monk was in Knight and was trying for avatar... Then Sirant went all evil
