My first 6 pinns were half-elves. Unless MASSIVE unspoken changes have gone through, I can testify I have had stronger monks, blademasters, pre-design bards, rangers and thieves in different flavors than half-elf.

Half elf is the best monk. Undead taken out of the equation of course, as undead monks are kick ass.

I am just musing that a half-elf gone avatar would presumably have the best stats for a monk.
I have only seen one that I remember, and he went WM.

The IMMs also didn't gimp him in any way. They said the race gimped him enough.

It must of been changed, because the old code suggests that chakeras are based off the following:
Your anatomy in their race
Your skill in anatomy
Hitroll
Level difference
Luck
Then maybe I'm misinformed and spouting nonsense. That was my understanding anyways.
Let's not forget that until recently, half-elves were down a point in both WIS and CON. Among other things, this would give them 49 more mana and hp. That might have leveled the field a bit, too.

Monks have a skill called aura.
It gives you -ac and a bright aura.
