RP Point Reward - Echo

I believe it's called echo. Where you can do an emote/smote without your name in it. I'd like to see this as an RP Point Reward. As is, it would be one of the few RP point rewards that have NO PK viability other than the pets and restrings.

I know, your first thought is that it will be abused. But no. Think about it this way. If someone is RPing enough to earn enough RP points to get echo, would you not trust them enough through their already stellar RP to be able to use it responsibly?

It is.

If it is, I'm not aware of which. But I can take a wild guess that it's Herald, which is appropriate by all means. But, we have excellent RPer's that are not in Herald, that would make good use of it. Think of the story telling that could be crafted.

If you're talking a local room echo, I think it's a great idea.  If you mean a world echo...I think that's too powerful.

Powerful RP tool already in use by a cabal. Leaning towards no, but some sort of alternative might be considered.

It is a very powerful RP tool, and I think that the people who RP well enough to amass the points to spend on it would use it well. As is, even as attractive as I might think it is, I would actually think most people would spend their points on the necklaces and edges for PK before they spent them on an echo command.

Other than the ability can be used by a cabal, (and I'd like to point out that the re-string ability currently in the Bazzar is also a cabal skill) why are you leaning to no?

I'd not see much of a problem if the cost was high enough. Perhaps like 150 to 200 rp + we'll revoke the ability without refund if we find it abused.

Agree on that one too.

Herald is up next for the cabal revamp though.

All in favor, and like Anume said, a single case of abuse and it's gone. In exchange for limitless RP potential? Pleaaaaaaase. Echo on a character would be so dr00000000l.

I remind you again what I already said previously, you can pay RP points to restring items in the Bazaar, which is a Merchant Cabal Elder Ability.(I've always wondered what the Leader Merchant Skill is...if we every see one.) I, personally, think cabal abilities shouldn't be added to the Bazaar. (be it restringing, echo, etc...) However, since there are cabal abilities that can be used within the Conclave, I would like to refrain -for the time being- from adding a Cabal's BEST ability. Of course, after the revamp that will be a different story. 

Echo can be abused in A LOT of ways. you can accost/assail another player with anonymity. (something as simple as having some unknown assailant spit/slap a Tribunal/Royalty OR trick/confuse another player into thinking there is Imm involvement, etc...) even though it will be costly and you can report one of the aforementioned abuses - the emote/smote/pmote that we have now lets a player know who is doing it... thus, abusing one of these motes a player can report to an Imm that so & so is interacting with their character in a negative/unacceptable way - a player could be in a situation where they don't know who is abusing the privilege of Echo.

Not fond of guild abilities being added to the Bazaar either, but that's a matter for another thread.

Maybe the IMMs will correct me if I am wrong, but the merchant's L ability is also in the bazaar.

That being said, that's a lot of opposition for a suggestion whose sole purpose is to enrich the RP environment.

Maybe we NEED some unknown assailants slapping or spitting on Tribunals? God knows half of em deserve it. I don't see abuse. Sure there's always one bad apple, but that bad apple isn't going to spend 150 RP points to abuse it, then have the ability taken away. And as far as being able to trick someone into thinking there is an IMM involved in RP. And even if they did!? What is the issue there? People RP their best when they think an IMM is there. If nothing else it would cultivate a more life like environment.

150 rp points isn't much and we've had plenty of players invest a lot of time and energy getting qclass, qrace, etc... just to abuse it. if it can be used and abused for personal benefit, it will be.

there is absolutely NOTHING that Echo can provide to cultivate an atmosphere that emote/pmote/smote doesn't already. it does allow a player to negatively effect someone's playing experience just as much as it can enhance it. our motes can do that too - the difference between the two being the anonymity. 

again, just so we're clear, I AGREED with and ACCEPTED your idea. I merely pointed toward a few issues I had with it and some issues that could arise from it.

you think my post is BS, that's fine... I'm sure asking you to explain your reasons would yield more negativity than anything else. as it stands, you're entitled to your opinion just as I'm entitled to mine. the difference, of course, is how we go about conveying said opinions. I've learned that being abrasive works best for creating distance and turmoil than resolving issues.

I suppose we could chalk this up to progress, in the past you wouldn't have showed as much restraint when it came to your expletives.

I agree with Professor - however, as in the past, we really need to stop "not" applying changes because we think (or know) it might be abused in the future. Our ability to choose our own character names, our ability to RP what we want, and even our ability to switch between characters can all be abused in some way or another, but we have an IMM staff around for this reason.

As a player, I've always thought that as players, we should definitely be given the benefit of the doubt even if it could be abused, and if it is, the IMMs are there to stop it.

As an IMM, I'm more leaning toward what I previously though - the only difference is I know IMMs can't ALWAYS be around to make sure this abuse doesn't occur - BUT - we will figure it out one way or another via someone else's prayer post or via one of our mort chars witnessing it.

In ending, I don't think this is a bad idea.
