The main flaw you exhibited here was spamming spells.  When fighting the Defender you would enter the command to cast path again the instant your last cast went through - this means you can't react to things that happen during that round of combat.  You should try and set up highlights for various effects being landed on you - you attempted to recall after you'd been hit with telelock, which was a waste of a round.  When you're trying to heal as a blind communer on the run, do NOT just sit in one room and repeatedly cast the spell; very especially don't do so via spamming the spell, wait until your previous cast goes through, then enter the command again.  Dance around while doing this - cast, move a couple rooms, cast again.  Never try to cure mid-battle - you're going to take more damage than you heal during the combat rounds, and your ability to hit back is minimal because you're not casting offensive spells.

I guess I can still comunicate trough editing my posts even while restricted. Ulmy just cemented my other post in the Nictis tread. You didn't need to restrict me...a simple explanation like Anume's would've worked a lot better in making me take back what I said. Punishing me for something I commented on is just silly. Exactly the mentality that is making people leave. Chiao and thanks for opening my eyes, Ulmy.

Path changes will continue to be rare and require a lot of effort from the one who wants it. Cenlar wrote two applications, helped with balancing paths and paid some rp points to get this change, after about a month or so trying for it. His previous character also was denied any changes, bc he did not put in the effort.

 

As to the fight, sorry for the derailment:

As was already pointed out, don't spam, esp vs a mob. I also recommend to flee and do a where from time to time if you can't kill the mob very fast, so you see them coming. In some areas, it will take them quite a bit to reach you (e.g. Nexus, Knight, Savant) so you have a good chance to see them before they are there if you do that from time to time.

Healing in battle is a no no. You lose more hp than you gain. If you are telelocked, you have only two options: run away faster than they can follow or kill them.

I was looking for him.  He was hiding he came in so fast and I panicked when blinded.  I was practically dead and had no clue where I was.  The fact that I was owned that bad was very discouraging.

Such fights also help you to learn. You'll get better by analyzing them and doing it better next time. Only way to get better is to keep trying.

To the vets out there: it's always nice to see some restraint in looting if you roflstomp someone. Easier to learn if you don't have to start over from scratch.

Get the savant shield.  It's usable effect will help you offensivly.  Use holy hands for the proc, in conjunction with the shield.  

Whenever you can always maintain age on your opponent. 

Pali's comment is perfect.  You are spamming spells to fast.  Let the round finish then use a spell so you can adapt.

Try to bring fights to areas you know well enough that you can run around in them blind - Elium is a great place for a communer to fight because it is so open, with so many rooms having the same name on where, that chasing in it is difficult no matter how good the chaser is.  Outside most cabals the areas are very corridor-like, which makes chasing much easier.  Next time he shows up, just flee immediately and run to one of the places.  When you're blinded, flee, run two or three rooms in one direction, a couple more in another, then cast a heal - and keep up this pattern of move-move-move-move-heal-move.  Just make sure not to spam your healing and you'll be very hard to take down.

 

Edit: Also, there is no shame in refusing to fight someone who usually beats you unless they meet you on your terms.  If they can't do it, they weren't all that strong in the first place.

This I am not a fan of.  If his ability to enjoy the character is sufficiently impaired by his experiences with it thus far that even if he gets stronger he doesn't expect to enjoy it, that is his call to make.  It may not be the call you would make, but that doesn't make it stupid.  Sometimes bad memories and associations are enough to tarnish a good thing.  If you think he should keep it going, say so, but there's no need to get insulting.

Don't get so butthurt Pali. He didn't insult anyone. He said his decision is stupid, which is true. Smart people make stupid decisions too.

FG cleric in temp has all the means to explore alone and gather the knowledge required for proper itemisation.

Not only that, but WM in its current state can give him the opportunity for a lot of PK practice.

If you cannot imagine compelling reasons to decide to drop a character that one has found frustrating, even if there remains unrealized potential, the failure of imagination is on you, not on the person doing it.

I don't need to imagine anything. He has clearly stated his reasons for dropping the character, and they can be fixed.

I really liked the character and he was nearly dead.  I dont think He would have lasted much longer.   I made him harcore by mistake so sure I could have learned more, but with the numbers I faced I found it difficult to eq alone.  I was literally by myself.  NO help no nothing.  Tough situation for your first toon back.

Perfectly good reasons to decide that your time is better spent investing in a new character, I'd say.

Relax, on a normal character you can die like sixty times. More if you RP it well. I had a crusader who saw death in the doorway twice.

So calm down, and take this very poor pkers advice.

If your opponent is going to 2-3 round you, you did not have a chance anyway. <don't beat yourself up if Jordan dunks on you.

In all other cases you DO have a chance.

So watch that first round with bias. <who hit who more?

I immediately look at them and enter a. <to verify what spells they have, what I was hit with, and to glimpse how much time I have to play with.

Now flee. Period. Don't question this. Rule Number 1, you did not initiate, flee.

Now your away, two rounds down, you know who is hitting who more. You know how much time you have.

If you were holding your own, a fair trade of blows (read as damage), reengage when he enters. You have a healing advantage.

If you were dropping faster than them, separate your self. That's right, start with the running away.

Keep them chasing, never loose them. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get most melee's to burn their stash.(read as actual combat time-30 secs an hour)

The trick is to keep them close, engage, and move on.

You should be whittling them away.

By the time you have fought two or three in this way you will no longer feel your heart beat, and you will then be calm enough to fight.

Now, for chasing, I defer you to one of these others.
