Yes. Shamans ARE dead. I racked my brain trying to come up with a reason why shamans would be dead. Why they would not be played. Why someone would not want to be the essence of disease, and malady. I came up with one reason.
You all complained until healers got put OUTSIDE cabals. Now at the time it seemed a balancing idea. But since this change was implemented, the shaman class has all but vanished. It was made too easy to undo all the work a shaman does. You spend 3-5 combat exchanges trying to land a few key mals. The moment you do the little rat can just run off to his cabal and cure off all your hard work!
So my suggestion is as follows. Cabal healers exist both INSIDE and OUTSIDE the cabal. The ones OUTSIDE have a cooldown of 0 hours. So you cannot cure all the mals in rapid succession. You have to choose which mals are most critical for you to get rid of. You actually have to go back to running intelligently and not just in random directions til you outpace the poor SOB.
