The Faerie Restoration
There came a time when the Faerie of Aabahran faced total extinction. The Source, the eternal wellspring of life that bound all Fae to existence, began to fail. Faerie corpses appeared on the roads between Miruvhor and Maelbrim. They bore no wounds. They looked as though they had simply stopped living, their skin gray and scaly. The Kaddar and Ylsae fell sick with a strange disease that was not a disease at all. It was the slow death of the Source.
The Death of the Last Elder
Estelar, the last elder of the Fae Court in Gualorium, contacted the Herald Academician Thyrius and told him the truth. Without the Source, all Faeries would die. Estelar sent scrolls to his old friend Archimus the inventor, to the Savant Tower, and to the Nexus Fortress. As he was finishing the last scroll, a shadow appeared in the room and slit his throat.
Drenaar's Sacrifice
Centuries passed. Group after group searched for the ingredients to create a new Source. Three things were needed: the blood of one tied to Crypticant who was neither fully alive nor dead, something of this world yet not of this world, and the blood of a Faerie. But every Faerie was dead.
A group of adventurers took the gamble. Tindian, a powerful Savant, handled the mechanics of time travel. Akayli brought balance. Thalain, tied to Crypticant, provided the first ingredient. Selynier, a Psionicist who could reach between dimensions, provided the second. Together they traveled back in time to meet Drenaar, the Mother of the Faerie, a Deity of magic itself.
Drenaar learned what the travelers told her of the future. She was distraught. She chased them to another time. When the final ingredient could not be gathered because no living Faerie existed to bleed, Drenaar made the ultimate sacrifice. Her skin rippled blue with forceful magical energies as she used her own divine essence to build and hide a new Source within time itself, safe from anyone who would wish her children harm.
The Faerie race was restored.
