Roll system

Is the roller system a problem to those of us who know the game?

Is the Roller system a barrier entry to a new player, who has a multitude of games to pick from, and probably needs to get hooked in the first 15 mins if they are going to stay?

My suggestion? Give two options at creation...You can choose to a 'random roll' Or you can take a 'standard character'

Random roll stays as it is, standard character gives you a roll 3 points off max for that race/class combo.

but nope. no changes should be made to tighten the range or give an alternative for people that suck at making triggers.

Hey, like I said I'm cool with an autoroller being built into the game's rolling system. But I maintain that rolling should be seen as an investment in your character... the more time you're willing to spend, the more of a reward you should reap.

well im far over 200 rolls right now, no joke. is that not enough of an investment?

ive been rolling since before we were talking about my character on the "what do you use to MUD" thread, twin.

Did you look at the max rolls for your race? Maybe you're shooting too high. For elves, I usually settle for 54, when I think 56 is the highest I've seen. If you're not enjoying the time you spend rolling... well then it's kinda defeating the point isn't it?

I think it should be integrated into the rolling system in the MUD though. Manual rolling only hurts new players.

Remember you can play another character while rolling. In the case of auto-rolling, you can have many rollers running at the same time as long as you quit out as soon the new characters enter the real game.

I agree - in fact, I think that anything clientside that is considered more than required to play the game at a certain level should, as a law, be integrated into the game in question.

I just assumed it was a negative comment about the MUD. Which would have been highly inappropriate as a signature on the MUD's forum.

My signature is there because I thought it was very funny that Eshaine quoted L-A. For no reason in particular. It is not a philosophy I prescribe to. It was a long time ago and I need to change it but I just haven't found anything worth putting in it's place.
